My. Choice hoganekkal through krishnagiri....
Or
Srirangapatna( tippu sultans palace) through Mysore road

 

do we have enough parking space and a fairly good restaurant at these places. Also hogenakkal is too crowded on the weekends. As far as i remember parking space is there but theres no good restaurant there.

No idea about Tipu's palace.

 

Srirangapatta is a fair place to go to.. I've been there and the tippu palace the road leading to the palace and tippu's burial are sort of residential areas so we should not have too much trouble finding a parking place by to road.
As for Lunch I think we can directly go to Mysore( we will find a good hotel there), I know that there is a "Corner house" in mysore (Entrance itself) for desserts.

OR
If we plan on leaving bangalore a bit late then we can bunk at one of the Kamats for Lunch .

 

Why don't you guys drive down somewhere till Yercaud/Yelagiri, Will see if I we can bring some crowd from Chennai as well.

 

yercaud is a bit far considering that we need to first meet at a common point in blr then wait for everyone to come then start our engines.
I mean if you consider we leave blr (I mean out of blr) at 11AM it would still be 5 hrs at least to reach (we stop for lunch as well) so it will be very late
