The mjd has the lowest emissions of ALL diesels in the Indian market, as real-world-tested by Auto Bild India, better than the VW diesels and the Hyundai one too (have not seen the readouts for the Honda ones though, admittedly).

There is A LOT of gaming of and abuse of the sorry ARAI, and many other consumer, labour and even competition-law, regulations in India, of that there's no doubt. My own sense is that it is Hyundai and Honda+ of course Maruti S that are the most egregious here, not VW.

VW's conduct in India right from the time of their launch 4 years ago has been reeking of arrogant, dubious and unethical conduct, from dealers to product specc-ing to advertizing to pricing to warranties etc etc, though they've been trying to improve over the last year, and have.

However, this conduct in the US is BY FAR the most egregious/outrageous and indeed deeply criminal, IF proven in court, by any car company in recent history in that or maybe in any major/large market!!:wideyed:

The joke among FCA insiders/afficionado-s in the US already is that, with VW's share price down a total of 35odd% in just 3 days because of this, with further huge declines assured over the next few months, perhaps Marchionne and John Elkann/Agnelli should try merging-with/buying-into/acquiring VW instead of GM or small-fry like Suzuki!:D

This puts a question mark on the entire auto industry frankly. If VW can cheat a hyperactive vigilant like EPA, then any of the car companies would be "screwing" around with all the regulators and testing agencies in the lesser endowed countries.
This might open a Pandoras box here too. Remember, GM already "screwed" up in India once.
Dont know whats happening to the auto world these days. As if the Takata airbag scandal wasnt bad enough. The difference being, that was a potential accident, here these millions of cars have been "screwing" the air around since 2009..

PS- the excessive slang language is intended for humor only.

Does anyone one know if the 11million cars affected globally, include the ones sold in India too?

i think the emission criteria norms in india is different from US/europe, so it might not affect us, not sure.

but this cheating from VW is literally considered EQUIVALENT to how Hitler cheated the world by plunging the world in world war.

VW was designed/created by Adolf Hitler.

Now every one has woken up. The reuters report says that canada, france, italy, germany have initiated their investigation for the same series car by VW. Not sure what kind of action they shall take away upon discovering the cars have got rigged.

To me, this is the utmost cheating and blunder done by the VW which deserves a whole lot of huge punishment infact ban on selling more for few mores years to come, mainly because showcasing their cars as more environment friendly yet stabbing in the back.
