Hey Kaps share the ICE details soon. Where are you getting it done??
Oh I C. So you r from Jammu. Great place. Hmmm where in cochin you put up? I am coming to cochin in dec 1st week. I will be bringing my car too Will surely meet u there. Gimme ur contact.
ICE upgrade was on my agenda for a long time. I had been delaying it trying to evaluate if I really needed to do it. In Sep this year, I had finally concluded that ICE has to be upgraded regardless of the kind of music I listen to (mostly old hindi film songs). With that, I started scouting for a good installer in Kochi. Scouring through many ICE posts on TFI and TBHP, I came to know about Galaxy Auto in Kochi. These guys have done some serious ICE installs and looked like professionals.
Prior to deciding on what components I wanted, I spoke to Muneem at Galaxy Auto in Sep and all my doubts regarding their capability as installers were put to rest. He recommended Focal Access component 165AI in front and Focal co-axial 130CAI in the rear along with Focal Solid4 amp. I did not want a sub-woofer so that was not asked for. This was in Sep. Last week I went to the shop to take a look at the products. The shop itself is situated on NH47 and is a rather small one. However, a great variety of products are stored inside and the guys working there are professionals. During this visit, I was advised to go for DLS ovals in the rear parcel tray, leaving the rear door speakers intact. I agreed to the deal and promised to bring the car next day. They were told to get the spacers etc. ready.
Next morning I reached the shop at 1030 and car was taken in immediately. There was a glitch, kahani mein twist. Muneem told me that due to the rear curtain on the wind-screen, it will not be possible to fit the ovals. A brief discussion and it was decided to skip the DLS ovals and go ahead with smaller MTX co-axials and a polk audio 8" sub-woofer. I asked them to install both the sub-woofer and amp under the seats as I did not want to compromise on the boot space. Installation started at 11AM and continued till 8PM with a short lunch break . They had to remove both front seats and the rear straight bench for fitment of various components. The Kaarlsson seats became a center of attraction for people entering or leaving. :clapping
The guy responsible for tuning the amp, Mohammed was a thorough professional and knew the Linea HU like the back of his hand. I sat through with him to achieve the best possible sound for my kind of music. After final fitment, the amp started throwing tantrums and was replaced. I was a bit annoyed but worries disappeared after continuous testing of new amp for good one hour at max settings without ACC. This amp is powered directly from battery and does not stay 'On'. It comes alive only when an audio signal is present.
The front speakers and sub-woofer are connected with the amp and the rear speakers along-with the MTX co-axials are driven by the head-unit. There is a delay of 2-3 seconds after the HU comes alive for the amp, front speakers and sub to start operation. This actually means that a line-in converter is not required. After the complete fitment and listening to various genres, I am very happy with the complete setup and the ICE on the chameleon has really transformed.

kudos man for the install :clap . focal Solid4 rocks. Did you get the damping done???
Thanks soccerfan. Dampening was not done for the full door, yet it covered about 4/5th of the door. The sound stage has become very solid4 me now
Last week I called up the works manager for news on ACC components upgrade. He was not aware of any such offer. He did say that offer was available on 1.2. He anyway asked me to bring the car. I took it on weekend and he told me that car will be connected with server in Italy and any upgrades, will be automatically uploaded. He said earlier these upgrades were being done from a local server at dealership, but now the procedure has been changed.
This looks more like an effort to gather driving style data and do analysis/upgrade on it in course of time. Just my 2cents.
ours seem to be the only two vocal white lineas in this forum i guess. mine is 8.5 months old. ur profile says medium grey!!! i have also done some modifications to the audio, but it cost me only 150rs and a set of aiwa home music system speaker. i have extended the wire from the rear door speaker to the boot and made a pin to which i can attach my speakers and take them out whenever in need of more boot space. the results are more than satisfactory. the boom boom effect is achieved and i have always like the clarity of blaupunkt speakers.
Yes Karan, we seem to be two of a kind Mine is 14 months old and still feels like a new bride. Your DIY on speaker is quite impressive. However, I wanted clear sound with not much boom boom and present set up is performing the way I wanted it to. I have not positioned anything in the boot. The amp and sub are under front seats.
Kaps, you installed all these things in ur Linea? They allowed u to cut wires? I wanted to install a horn and they didnt allow me to do it.
I was in cochin for 10 days, but was busy with so many things. Wanted to meet u and see ur car.
of course your system must be sounding better than me. but then for 150rs you do not expect more and trust me they really sound great. the stock blaupunkt is really good on clarity if tuned well. sub under the front seat ::OO . thats something i have never seen. hope it doesnt fiddle with the leg space :P . one thing i have noticed is that it sounds great when the car is stationery and does not sound the same way when moving, lots of road noise i guess
