    Hi All,

I have got some time off this weekend from friday to tuesday so planning to go for trip with my punto and a friend of mine. I can start from chennai on friday noon\evening. Initially thought of going to wayanad but later thought about exploring some new place. Searched a bit and came to know about gokarna, murudeshwar etc in coastal karnataka. Can you guys give me some suggestions regarding these places? Or even if there are better places im ready to explore. I dont want any fancy or crowded place but some less explored place to take my punto to:)

Please pour in your suggestions regarding place, stay, route etc :)

Naveen - With only 3 days in hand if you're looking for a relaxed holiday explore Valparai, Aliyar and Athirampally if you haven't been there already. Else Mundanthurai forest reserve is open again you could try that as well. Coastal Karnataka is indeed good, but wouldn't major portion of time spent in driving. Do check out ramjn's travelogue on Kudremukh which I believe he did in 3 days as well.

You can try kutralam, amba samudram, babsnasam & manimuthaar area. It wont be crowded at this time but i am not sure about water level in falls but rains expected from jan 3rd in those area.

Another option is pollachi, valparai, top slip areas...

Give a thought about coorg also, it is relatively nearer ~600 kms with 10 hrs journey. Its a good place for relaxing and not much crowded like ooty or kodai.

thanks for your suggestions guys. As I have only 4 days I have decided to stick to exploring valparai areas. Coastal karnataka will be done in summer :)

I was going through the travelogues on google and read about parambikulam.
Is it a good place to stay? Any suggestions regarding the accomodation over there? Official website of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala, India

Please suggest some accomodation in Topslip as well. Will decide between these two places

Naveen2cool - checkout visitvalparai.com. It had a persons number who had provided us accommodation at Valparai. He had different options available at different price points.

@ Teky - Is this place decent for a family holiday? How's the drive?
  10. Naveen, if you haven't been to Valparai, then don't miss it.

One of the best ghat roads. Try woodbrier bungalow's for stay. They are good with good food.

More expensive but best place to stay is Sinnadorai bungalow.

You can check my Valparai travelogue in here for more info.
