Thats a sweet looking turbine, and a well built one too.

    What was the issue?
  3. Well Guru!!

loss of power and black smoke when rev hard, all due to slight oil leak from the intercooler tube going to the turbo.
  4. That's still a small turbo.I had imagined a bigger size:)

This is the first time i hear Turbo replacement done.

Having read this one quick technical question. Can we just replace FGT with VGT, without any other parts replacement ?

I'm sure you can mechanically swap the VGT in place of the FGT. But just a mechanical swap will make your car run worse than a diesel 3 wheeler. You will have no top end power. :)

Since the "brain" of the VGT is in the ECU. And that is something you will not get with a simple swap. You'll have to swap the ECU , the vacuum actuator etc etc to get the VGT working right.

    Cheers.

Wow that is a lot of process and $$$. Thank you very much for the details.

Looking at the 20K cost, wild mind started thinking about replacing the FGT with VGT.
