If take the interior quality no cars other than the old Fabia elegance had surprised me. It is a fantastic car from inside in terms of luxury. What a package it was even though overpriced.

Eh! It's just plastics. Even if I am wrong about it, I wouldn't buy the car for better plastics.
A guy at work booked the i20 today despite lectures by 3 Fiat owners. His primary needs in the car are good interiors, electrically folding outside rear view mirrors etc. we educated him on 4 cylinder, 90 HP etc and he had no clue. He drives a Ford Ikon for years.
    To each his own.
    Peace Out!

People forget those additional Gizmos like automatic climate control, nice displays all around, soft touch buttons & it feels like a cockpit when all that area lit up during night driving. These are more costly things than providing just some slightly more shining looking plastic. I hope one knows that at what expense he is willing for slightly more shining plastic? Being a budget vehicle you have to compromise somewhere. That Polo/Vento plastic could be a bit more shinning but only worth for banging one's head into it as it's just a basic damn dashboard:thumbs down. No premium touches like soft touch buttons/features/stylish or at least some appearance.

Do i want cheap knobs like some Fan regulator of 800 in Punto, errrrr....!!
It feels very premium while fiddling at the Punto's console, so feature rich. By the way, Punto's dashboard plastic looks good enough if not premium. I will stay away from this shining plastic stuff if this is the trade off. Why not get the leather touches all over dashboard worth Rs. 10000. Thanks, can't leave so many worth of money features for more shining plastics. I would buy a spray polish & keep it shining by spraying once a week.

Hi Guys, want to share something, don't know where to put it, so writing it here.

Last Saturday, I had little fight with Linea MJD , I was on my way back to Sagar from Sirsi, so as this Linea .
His was also KA15 registration. For the record mine is 1st Punto with KA15, but his Linea was 3000 cars earlier than me, so i felt :p . I overtook him near the hump since he was slow, then real fun started. Probably he saw Punto with KA15, so he overtook me . Definitely I knew I cant beat him, but I wanted to check my cars performance against it. Believe me guys, I was rite on his tail. He was very difficult to overtake, sometimes I came real closer. A shift to 3rd gear would be proper, but I was not racing, just following. That road is smooth but had lot of turns + traffic, so going beyond 120+ is difficult, that too it was evening time. Next 40 kms was a real fun for me. I could hear tyre screeching couple of times. I didn't cross 120 probably he also. We overtook all vehicles in a single go together :D. That was real fun. He also never applied breaks suddenly which inspired confidence in me :) At Siddapur I had to deviate so flashed him headlights couple of times and left. That was one of the finest dual(or u can say following or something) I ever had. So I couldn't stop mentioning here. Sometimes a drive like this is much more fun than driving 140+ on open highways.

If it was not Linea (or 1.6 Fiesta) I couldn't have followed or I could have overtaken it. Probably I would have overtaken 75 bhp MJD ;) What you guys feel? I am mentioning this because my brother in law had 75bhp, I drove it for 1000+ kms (that was just 4k kms old though).

Only thing which I missed in my car was 15" tyres, at some corners although I was very close to him, I did maintain right lane because I don't have confidence in my 14".

Obviously no need to mention about mileage

1 thing I observed is when he tried to accelerate suddenly, black smoke was coming out of his car. Is that normal?

Disclaimer: I don't recommend racing or dragging on our roads. What I did here was to just follow the car. Never faced any scary moments. Also I don't recommend this if its not Punto :clap.

the same thing i also found when ford fiesta overtook me and i was thinking does my punto also smokes while overtaking ? Now from your observation then its normal for all diesel cars...

r u trying out to compare petrol punto Vs diesel punto ?now thats good discussion :)

Got a useful input to share. The tyre pressure in FIAT car's is more than what it sounds. In-fact it plays a big role in tuning it's suspension/ride quality/agility/steering response etc. Since temp. during last 3-4 days is on higher side this part of the world, i though to deflate tyres a bit manually myself without using any pressure gauge etc. I deflated all 4 tires feeling it's depression while vehicle is rest. I drove it & felt OK comparatively with more stability, steering precision, thrumming of steering reduced a lot during hard braking. Everything felt okkk.

yesterday we had a long trip of 500 KMs. Throttle response was feeling usual even after the collective weight in the range of 2 tons on the engine instead of regular 1.35 tonne (myself & car:mrgreen:). Everything was perfect until i had it on 175 km/hr. The car was feeling losing off breath. May be additional 4 people & luggage bogged it down a bit, still i was not convinced. It almost refused to go further up@175@4800 RPM. RPMs were higher than they used to be at this particular speed. At a near by filling station, i had the tank topped up & took it for checking tyre pressure.

I was least suspecting that. As soon as the person put his inflator's nozzle to check tyre pressure, i could see "14" flashing in display meter. I was like eeeewwwww..!! The guy started inflating & it took almost 50-60 secs that the inflator took to bump the tyre pressure to 30. For other rear tyre, it was even worse. A "12" flashed on the display. The guy smiled at me & said, when you people were entering the filling pump, i thought you had the punctures in both of your rear tyres:(. You were riding on RIMs. I felt like slapping myself in the mirror. What an idiot sight it would be, 5 bullheaded morons riding 170+ on RIMs & whispering to each other's ear "what a car, what a car:A". People must have laughed their lungs out.

Anyways, front tyres were a bit ok with 22 & 24 tyre pressure. Got them inflated too to 30 & tipped the guy Rs 20. I couldn't hold my extra smartness to deflate the tires myself & tortured little MJD with 5 bulls on board, 40 deg. temperature riding@150+ speeds. I felt for it..!

As soon as we were back on the road, man, was it going! I felt it a different car altogether. Steering was almost perfect (impossible to improve upon), suspension was working at it's best, acceleration bursts were better by as much as 25% with 2-3 KM/ltr better Instantaneous mileage. Braking was spot on & bumps were filtered invincibly that no mere mortal vehicle can dream of, if it wasn't perfect already before inflating the tires. Not only me, everyone else felt the change. They noticed it feels quicker now. I could feel the immediate throttle response & it was feeling so easy at the same high speeds now. In no time it touched 175(@4300 RPM this time:eek:) & was like "What are you waiting for tiger, bring it on!". We actually jumped a steep breaker@160 km/hr with car going 2-3 feet in air. It is some mad sturdy stuff like an armored vehicle! Obviously, I resisted the temptation further sensing i was lucky not to have any problem this time. I wasn't wrong, there started frequent breakers coming in due to an upcoming city ahead, so kept it in 130-150km/hr range.

Lesson learnt: I had the habit of smiling cheap & taunting when-ever i saw someone inquiring on tyre pressure in FIAT cars. Well, it plays a very important role especially when you really load it serious. Don't forget to optimize your tyre pressure & research out the best combination of readings that your Lioness seems to be comfortable with.

    ENKI,
that was a good lesson to every1,so what should one expect the tyre pressue during summer season, considering
as per mentioned in FIAT manual.

One more question last week when i been to long trip of 600 Kms,i have observed one thing when driving normally at 60-70 speed evrything is fine, but when i cross above 90 and drive little fast i'm getting the smell of diesel inside the cabin. Is this normal thing ? i doubt there is some issue

Enki, Your Punto has the grace of God(touch wood):D. Otherwise hitting speed breaker at 160kmph(for any car) could have contributed some new threads in technical sections. If it were any other car speed breaker might have provided escape velocity for it.
And again 130-150 a safe speed when there are frequent speed breakers. You are almost close to Lesson No 3. (Lesson 1 was the empty tank incidence).

I felt the front Bumper scraping the road when it came down with a vicious thud & shock absorbers rods hitting their extreme limits... Bang!!! With so much of weight & speed, it would test any Car/SUV of whatever segment it is. Instead of braking insane at the last moment, opted to go for it & focused to control the car when we land back. It's so easy to lose steering in such situation. One very important suggestion though whom so ever is reading, Since jumping the braker can happen anytime (especially night drive), Never ever brake hard when you are in air. One will seize his fate by doing this & car will definitely lose it direction with lots of skidding. Imbalance at high speed would definitely escort the car to off road. Instead maintain the throttle position exactly what it was before, so that car straighten itself if it skids or lose direction after landing. Obviously hope that you are in FIAT otherwise broken AXLE is 100% confirmed:p. That was a close shave & other than me, no-one felt awkward (but they were like :confused:when jumping rods were heard clanking inside chassis). Only I knew what we have come out of, such an arrogant car it is. I think FIAT cars are best with cool/collective minds. They are too good to ditch you@whatever situation. You panic & one crashes Ferrari too.

I was lucky not to have any rattling/alignment loss/suspension's complication. This braker was at a very unlikely place. In fact people @70-80 were hardly noticing it. It was more like Grand Rally Cross starting early, every now & then, someone was coming flying and landing:mrgreen:.
I had a feeling, It was built by nearby Dhaba community instead of state HWY Authority so that people notices them.
One of the my friend & passenger at that moment is getting ready with "RTI to state HWY authority" to demand clarification & legal action for the people involved in this irresponsible act.It will definitely manage to hunt some innocent people. We were lucky enough to be in Punto & not in a Verna/City of my friend, that absolutely scares the piss out of me:sadblue.

No man, diesel smell is not normal at all. Did you notice any drop in FE? Open bonnet check the fuel supply mechanism.
If you are not able to spot it on yourself, don't feel lazy & take it to TASS immediately.
I think it's very serious issue & safety/security threatening for you & the car too. Reason has to be leakage somewhere or some loose clamp.
