    Yep, ABS intervening may sometimes force the pedal back. Disappointing fact is it is never discussed anywhere.

    @Nitin, actually FIAT stopped advertising this VVT feature of their engines after 80s. They patented it during 60s & introduced them in late 70s. Much before the Chinese even dreamed of them. Other manufacturers started them advertising when they newly introduced them in 90s:mrgreen:. Now Multiair being another step of evolution of VVT with 15% gain into everything (power/FE/torque/emission), sure they are advertising it again. but for others it's just market gimmicks to confuse the buyers & keep them away from the fact. If one goes into detail, one will be surprised how ludicrous it sounds for some manufacturers:-?.
    Do you remember SX4 DOHC engine advertizing in 2006? FIAT/Lancia introduced DOHC concept & launched it in 1959 as small engines with name Lampredi Twin:lol.

    Hi Enki,
    But the power ouput from the Honda 1.2 mill is more compared to fire 1.2. So can we say the power output is more effective for vtec? . But when i testdrove Jazz, the refienment and rev friendly nature is only on par with the Fire 1.4. Share your thoughts

    But the 1.2 that we get in India is not in its fullest potential. What is the max power that comes from 1.2 ivtec. We cannot compare FIRE and ivtec just looking at the power out put.
    One has to see the max potential of both engines and then we can compare. The way Fiat squeeze power from smaller engine is amazing. But we Indians are unlucky to taste those engines.

    Ya fiat is the master in squeezing power form small engines

    The award winning(2011) 2 cylinder 875 cc Multiair Engine is the best example : 105 bhp power

    But for 1.2 Fire the power rating is 65 ps only. So i ask

    Next is ABS :cool: training ...
    and one should really know how abs works unless it is experienced practically and i believe its mentioned in FIAT Manual to explore about abs practically :idea:
    This is the one(ABS with EBD) hidden thing till now (apart from the design of the car itselves) we have not discussed and ofcourse this is what makes punto/linea good/precise/accurate at the corners

    ramjn will wait for it!::O

    Fiat's is very old engine dear. It roots all the way to 1984 (star-jet generation). The only added update was EGR in 2005 to improve efficiency. Latest generation Honda V-TEC should be compared with FIAT's latest VVT system the multiair. no comparison what so ever. There is an upcoming 1.7 ltr Turbo TBI (details already declared officially) that puts out more than 300 HP. Honda's most recent effort though it is non-turbo, is 3.6 ltr V6 with exactly half the torque of Tbi & equal amount of power 305 Bhp. The latest FIAT petrol's are just maniacs with specific outputs even in sub-compact category. Forget Honda, even VW after adding turbo+supercharger in their TFSI doesn't compare anywhere to Multiair. Generally, adding turbo yields around 40% more power but more than twice here is insane (1.7 ltr TBi vs 3.6 ltr V-TEC V6). Don't forget FE/emissions also way better. Pls note that 1.7 tbi is already meeting Euro 6 & America's BIN 5 emission standards:p.

    Thanks ENKI. I ask this because in almost all forums every one suggest Jazz over Petrol Punto with the reasoning that Honda vtec is miles ahead but with out any explanations.

    Take anything on these OTHER forums with a pinch of salt. It's mostly hearsay.
    How do you think swift sells like 20,000 a month and Punto only some 1,000 a month?
