Congratulations!! Drive Safe!!!
1 Month 2000 Kms Update:
The Tempest completed 2000 Kms in exactly 1 month from coming home. took it to Chennai 2 weeks back. Below are some of my observations during this period:
1- Ride quality is excellent both in city and highway. It simply grips the road and is very confidence inspiring.
2- The engine has started to open up and the low end response has further improved. It is easy to drive in city traffic and the much talked about poor low end torque is not at all an issue.
3- The rear wheel setup has started to rattle after some time. FASC fixed it with some adjustments to locking mechanism and application of some tape on the lock.
4- There is an occasional noise from the left hand side while driving. Unable to figure out the source yet .
5 - I have noticed that there is a difference in the door closing sound between rear doors and front doors. The typical thud sound of FIAT is missing from rear doors. Should i get the rear door locks checked?
6- Recently on my trip, i tried to test out the top speed and pushed Tempest beyond 140 KM/Hr mark for 10 mins. However, the ride became bumpy. i could feel the vibration all over. Should i be worried? Is it because of Higher air pressure in tyres? I tried this after crossing Vellore when coming from Chennai to Bangalore. Any inputs on this from members will be appreciated.
After my 1 month of ownership, will i recommend the vehicle to any one. The answer is "Yes" (Infact i already did to couple of my colleagues). Except for minor niggles (which i hope will be sorted out soon), i am satisfied with my FIAT CUV !!!
P.S.: I was driving solo on the trip hence couldn't click any pictures of Tempest.
It might be due to incorrect air pressure in tyres or alignment / balancing issues. Its a good practice to check the tyre pressure before long drives.
@punto_emotion : Thanks for the advice, will get WA/WB checked.
The rear wheel set up is going to become Fiat's Achilles heel. I hope Fiat comes up with a quick solution to the issue or else people will lose interest in the CUV. Application of tape over the lock seems an stone age solution. Can you post pics of the same pls?
For the occasional noise from left, maybe the rear split seating might be the issue. The seats must have not be locked thoroughly.
Here you go, the screws encircled in red were adjusted and the area marked in green was taped to resolve the issue.
Try and maintain 32 psi in all tyres if 1/2 persons are travelling.
In case of full load with luggae or 3/4 people I keep 33 psi on all tyres.
I do a lot of long road trips and believe me my Punto with 195/60 shoes is just rock solid above 120.
Avvy with 205/50 should be a more confidence inspiring. Seems to me a tyre pressure issue.
@nibedk : I agree, seems more of a tyre pressure issue. I had 34 psi all over while travelling alone. As a precaution will get WA/WB done also.
Get the WA/WB at third party like Madhus as they are specialists.
Many congratulations bro for your new ride...
May I request you to post the pic of reverse camera placement??
One of my close friend is also planning to buy emotion 1.3 Avventura...
He also want to install reverse parking camera on his new Avventura. But placement of camera is very tedious job on Avventura.
Your pics would help big time.
Thanks in advance.
