    Hi everybody,

i have just added the spare speakers of my old sony G80 music system to mu fiat punto HU and the best part is that to without cutting any wires/alterations and the sound of the system of my car has improved by leaps and bounds or in other words
    have become aaaawwwwweeeessssoooommmmeee............ mates.:wow:wow:clapping
i think everybody who is thinking of changing the HU must first give a try to change in speakers before changing the HU's.

except for living with cd's in this age of USB/AUX.
is there a possibility to source the old blaupunkt hu from somewhere images.jpg

Slycooper good to see you on forum after so many days.

As PS suggested for front door get components and for rear doors get co axials.

Components prices appx as below for reputed brands

Ground Zero(appx Rs. 11000), Rockford Fosgate (appx Rs. 7000), Alpine (Rs. 10000).

As you mentioned you want bass on lower volume then I will suggest you to go for amplifier.

In Pune do not go to Nashik Phata there is possibility that you will get duplicate material. Go to Car Cupid near you home at Pashan Sus Road, opposite to Maharashtra Bank.

Thanks Kedar. I am short on budget so will not be spending much on speakers. I checked today at Carax and found JBL GTO-6906C (component), Rs. 5300 and GT6-S266 (co-axial), Rs. 2200. The total cost will be Rs. 8100/- (Rs. 600 spacer). I was told that there will be cutting of wires and couplers (?) will be used. I am not going for Amp as of now.
    Q. Can I get the damping done later? How do I know if the damping is required or not? The damping cost is Rs. 1500/- for front doors. As I had mentioned earlier, I wont be playing music at loud volume.

Damping is required to reflect the bass effects. As doors are not capable of such & the bass effect is getting absorbed.
No proper bass effect will receive after installing good components.

Also check Ecko electronics at law collage road. They have good quality of dampers. :)

I was told now that the damping material is in the form of paste and not sheet. What is the difference and recommended?

I got speakers installed (without damping). I would say that there is "HUGE" improvement in the sound quality, bass etc. Original FIAT speakers are pathetic and something FIAT should fixed with new cars.

    Hi

    Did you add any amp?
I heard our OEM player does not provide sufficient wattage output for components.

Is that the same setup installed as updated in 2 post back?

    Mind sharing some pic

@Fiat-Yamaha - I did not install amp. Yes I too had heard that the OEM HU does not provide sufficient wattage but now after using it for some time w/o amp, I dont think it is needed for me. Anyways I never wanted speakers or music system for high volume. The component speakers as suggested by @PaddleShifter and @Kedar are really working well. The output in front seats (where I will be for 99.99% times ;-)), is amazing as compared to back seats (co-ax speakers). After listening to OEM speakers for ~2 years, the new speakers sound amazingly well. I have NOT done damping too. So far happy with the performance of JBL speakers :dance. Over the time I will think about installing amp or get the damping done.

I don't have any pics to share but here is the speakers info from JBL site:
    - Component

    - Co-ax
    hxxp://www.jbl.com/estore/jbl/in/products/GT6-S266/GT6-S266_JBL_IN?skuId=GT6-S266_JBL_IN&searchMode=regularProductOnly

Total cost - Speakers and installation - Rs. 8100/- (bundled with Rs. 500/- film removal)
