    Hello friends,

Currently I am having the factory fitted sound system for my Evo which I purchased this April. Even though the sound quality of the speakers are good with decent bass, I want to install a sub woofer for some extra bass. I will be retaining all other speakers.

When I enquired at Friend car accessories at Chennai, they told I have to buy converter(as head unit is OEM), amp and sub which would cost minimum 15k. Is converter really required for our head unit to install a sub?

Is there any better option to install sub within 11k?

Also I am afraid about installation as I heard tampering the wire may void warranty. So i wanted to install sub in a reputed shop either at Chennai or Madurai.

Could you guys please provide some suggestions?

Go for JBL MS bass pro 12 active (inbuilt amp). It's a quality product of MS series which is not like the usual cheap crap jbl sells in India. This one comes with a passive radiator too.
It can be run without convertor but please recheck with more than one installers.

Update : it was available recently on Amazon for 11-12k; seems to have been sold off.

@asimpleson Thanks, I will check with the installers for this model.

Or is there any one who has installed JBL MS bass pro 12 active in their cars with OEM head unit? Please advise.

Is there any reputed shops in Chennai who does installation without voiding the warranty?

    Hello friends,
Currently I am having the factory fitted sound system for my 2011 Punto (emotion pack). i am planning to upgrade my speakers. so i brought Infinity 6030CS component speakers for front and JBL GTO 638 coaxial speakers for rear.

I don't want to change the factory fitted head unit. please suggest me whether to go without amp or amp is mandate.

If Amp is mandatory, please suggest me a good one.

@Karan, i recenly added just a subwoofer to my stock audio system. I dint go for 12 inch subs instead sticked with 8inch which is
Blaupunkt - GTb 8 A - 8 Inch Active Subwoofer Enclosure felt very much adequate. Coverter just cost less that 800 bucks. I had this installed from Dazz D cars without causing any damages to the existing wiring

Hi All, this thread has wealth of knowledge for sure. As a newbie in ICE, too much info has left me confused. :)
I own 2012 MJD Emotion Punto. I plan to overhaul my current ICE set up completely. The current set up (done in 2012) is shabbily done job of adding pioneer 6X9 in parcel tray. I am just too fed up with rattles & sound distortion. I am big Rehman, Lucky Ali fan & current set up robs the aural pleasure I look forward too. I plan to scrap current set up & start a fresh.

Please guide me with possible set up that can provide crisp, distortion free & punchy sound quality with surround sound effect. Please suggest suitable set for me. I request recommendation for full set up in terms of brand & models for HU, AMP, CO-AXI, SUB, (if required) Tweeters. I have kept tentative budget of 30k & can stretch upto 40k.

Ideal setup should include 3rca headunit, steering control, one component speaker (includes midbass, tweeters and crossovers), one coax same brand same series as components, one 4 channel amp and tiny monoblock amp with a prefabricated 12" sub.

Costing lowest till date for JVC hu 3rca in my observations has been 7.5k for 3rca HU, components decent ones for front 7.5 to 11k, rear speakers of same brand and series upto 6.5-7k, subwoofers upto 5k, amps 12k (one 4 channel and one monoblock)+ installation charges depending on installer. Add steering control module about 2-2.5k if needed.
Parcel tray or loud music can cause rattles, dampening can be selected but some can live without it, while others think it's a must.
PM me if you need help selecting.

My lovely 2010 Linea Emotion Pack's speakers I think are done for now. The front left speaker has started making strange noises and the bass in these stock speakers never quite existed. But I never wanted to tinker too much with the stock condition of my car. Now, though, the speakers do need to change.

I want to spend very little money on this - the stock speakers were working for me perfectly. I have been looking on amazon and what I find is that people are saying nice things about 6" 2-way coaxial speakers from Sony and a company called Soundboss. Both are approximately 280W max and 40W rated in terms of power. Unlike the paper cones of the stock speakers, these have mica cones and promise better bass and overall sound. Do you think these would be a downgrade from what I have? What power output do the stock ones have?

Again - note that I want to spend very little money on this.

Thanks again in advance and I look forward to your responses. :)

Considering your speaker has gone bust and tweeters are intact, please go for polk audio or infinity reference coaxials, for front assuming you want to change just front pair. Disabling tweeter on coaxial or using it is your choice, but would recommend trying swapping them and testing them first. All this is assuming you don't want to go for an amplifier in future too.

Not a fan of Sony entry level or Soundboss and definitely would never buy those entry level mica cones type. It doesn't mean they are bad per se and maybe they'll suit your taste as well. So do decide accordingly.

    @Santosh Pandey

PS: suggestion of polk and infinity reference is based on value, quality and performance of those drivers, their efficiency.
