Tata Motors launches new showroom format

Tata MotorsBSE today launched a new format of passenger car showrooms and said it will upgrade up to five sales points across the country by March to the new format.

"We plan to upgrade 4-5 more such showrooms in the metros in this quarter," passenger vehicles business unit's president Ranjit Yadav told reporters on the sidelines of event to launch the first showroom in the new format.

Among other things, such showrooms will have a video wall, wi-fi capable lounges, merchandising of accessories and lifestyle products, a cafe and play areas for kids.

"Going forward, we will take this concept to 10-20 cities including tier-II and tier III centres."

Yadav, however, did not reveal the investment that would go down into the upgradation but maintained that a significant investment has been made in the upgradation of the showroom in central Mumbai.

hmm...If FIAT doesnt act really fast with the own network setup and caffes, TATA will have more number of Caffes(?) than FIAT who first came up with this idea.

well well, Tata is learning from Fiat. As known fact earlier also , Fiat did not gain anything from TATA -FIAT venture. TATA has all the gains. However I doubt this will help TATA. Problem with TATA vehicles is the image (Taxi). Lets see in long run .....

I think FIAT will not increase the Caffe number so easily/early. Also FIAT should concentrate more on setting up proper exclusive sale and service center than the Caffe, to address their current issues.

Neverthless TATA seems to take a good point from FIAT to take itself forward :)

I don't understand why Tata seems to copy Fiat and why does Fiat allow so? :ban

How can Fiat stop Tata (or any manufacturer) to launch cafes?

Yes, Fiat can't. But Fiat is the pioneer of this concept, as it was with features such as voice command. Its only a matter of time before other manufacturers open their cafes.

This is precisely the reason I want Fiat to speed up the process of opening Cafes and Exclusive Showrooms. Imagine! A Maruti cafe with all ugly looking cars around and Hyundai with boats around. Ooh! Nooooooo :irked

When sales are taking a nose dive, innovation is the key for car manufacturers....so cant blame TATA to start caffe, but FIAT needs to regain the brand value in India and keep innovating to be a step ahead of competition

That image goes both ways... All Tata service guys see their customers as taxi drivers :-D
