On your return you drove for more than 24 hours with just a couple of hours break! That is a lot, I would just not be able to do that. And you drove through the night, were those sections of road lightly trafficked?

@5u3zEr0, I tried to cover the distance exactly in 24 hrs but it was not possible given the situation that i had a dog too with me. I had to frequently stop to feed him and for P&P. But I will never again try to do that as it takes away the pleasure of long drives and kills the purpose of such drives, after all I am not a cab driver who just thinks about the destination and not the drive. (self realization :-D)

Nice idea @SANTOSH SINGH. I will try it. Anyways i will post about my trip plans here and if anybody finds it interesting, are free to join me. But one TRIP i forgot to post here and apologies for that. Recently i did a trip to Sambalpur from Paradip during this puja holidays. I did not find sufficient time to post about the plan here as it was a sort of flash decision at the last moment.

Tourist information about Samablpur: http://orissatourism.gov.in/sambal.html, http://www.tripadvisor.in/Tourism-g1213781-Sambalpur_Odisha-Vacations.html

Route from paradip: Via NH 5A, NH 42 (now NH 55)

Some portion of the roads were flanked by forests on both sides and may be due to durga puja and a long line of holidays there were very less traffic.

    Visited Hiradku dam

Places of stay: PANTHANIVAS, Sambalpur and 1 night stay at NIRUPAMA HOTELS, Denkhanal.

    Panthanivas, Sambalpur:

We stayed in AC Double bed room (small room) at Rs. 999/- (all inclusive). The room was ok but its down the hill from the main building. The location itself gave a feeling that we were inside some forest. Will recommend this room for one night stay but the other rooms like AC deluxe and AC big room were good. If I were to choose a room next time it would be AC Deluxe. Its a typical govt run hotel so I think you will understand. The complimentary breakfast was good though not mouth watering.

    Hotel Upahar Palace, Sharada Restaurant:

I mention this restaurant in special because the food was delicious. South Indian tiffin also available but in the evening only.

We had a very good experience at this place. This place is at a beautiful location. Though the stay was only for one night, we had our first coffee break during the up journey. During the return journey we planned to have dinner at this place but we enjoyed the place so much that we decided to spend the night there. I am planning to spend a two or three days again in that hotel to explore the near by areas. Actually, it was previously Panthanivas, Dhenkanal. The Nirupama group took over and they have transformed the place very nicely. Credit card payment option also available.

Since its in the bypass, one need not go into the hustle and bustle of Dhenkanal town for a stay.

Thanks for sharing details on these un-explored territories.

Normally Panthanivas are very spacious set-up, so if some private group maintains it, good for customers.

@SANTOSH SINGH, I have a plan for Leh and Ladhak. Still waiting for the right time, I mean, leave from office, family commitment etc. Since your are in Panipat, I think we can plan together. I will let you know well in advance.
