Since this thread has been bumped up, let me complete the story. :)

I took me approx half a day per door. The result is very good- excellent noise reduction, the door feels even more sturdy, music sounds sweeter!
For comparison sakes, I would say my cabin is now much, much silent than what I started off with, but still a bit noisier than the newer Puntos. I'm guessing it's largely dependent on the firewall treatment.

A tip for anyone intending to try this out.
There are no shortcuts, you have to apply layer after layer, ensuring that each layer is securely glued onto the body. Towards the end I tried to skip steps and started pasting layers of the sheet together and then transferring them enmasse onto the car. This did not end up that well as after a few weeks the driver's side damping collapsed and started interfering with the window glass. I had too peel off the sheets, and trust me its lot more tiring and frustrating!

Ask for 'sticker type roofing tar sheet', emphasis being on 'sticker type'.

No it does not eliminate tyre noise, maybe just reduce it slightly if dampening is good. For tyre noise change of tyres is required to a design not supposed to make noise. Like Yoko db series for example.

    Thanks for quick reply
Tyres are just 4 months old.
Will have to live with it for 3-4 yrs
Just 1 more doubt. Does that fancy Nitrogen gas makes any difference wrt tyre noise

    Nope.
And you already mentioned, for normal drivers like us, Nitrogen makes no difference.

Yes, there is not much one can do about it, except change to comfort type tyres which allow soft ride and perhaps lower noise levels. The road type also contributes to tyre noise IMO.

Not for noise it makes no difference, but it certainly keeps the tyres cooler on the inside especially, a common belief. Allowing them to run more stable in varying climate conditions, particularly in hot and humid conditions. The flip side is that sometimes if the tyre loose pressure, finding a nitrogen filling shop can be challenging and also the charges per fill are higher, how much it is justified is again debatable.
