Now time for the return Journey. The onward journey gave me some insight about planning for the return trip, like where to stay and when to start the plan so that traffic at some places can be avoided etc. Therefore i planned to leave thiruvarur @ 18:00 hrs in the evening so that by the time i reach chennai i would be midnight and i wont find any difficulty in crossing chennai (later my ertiga friend suggested that i should have taken the chennai bypass as it would have saved some kms :sad1). I planned my first stop at TADA, the second one at Vijayawada, the third one at vishakapatnam and then to drive upto paradip. If everything goes right i had planned to take rest roughly about 8 hrs of drive.

Started my journey from thiruvarur @ 18:45 hrs. The major places and time i covered is as follows:

Also, during the onward journey i forgot to take pictures of the MFD at each rest. This I rectified in the return trip. So, without much of the description which i had to deliberately give on account of non availability of "stuff":)evilsmile), I present here the first part of my return journey.................

As can be seen from the trip sheet, I took rest (as per plan) at TADA in front of the HP petrol pump with "CAFE COFFEE DAY". Also, on the return journey I at last found the BP GHAR Dhaba which i was searching during the onward trip. It was located at Karedu some 111 kms after Nellore. Finished Break fast there.

This is the MFD from Thiruvarur to TADA. Took these before starting after resting at TADA

These figures are without AC and the route has the most diversions due to ongoing work of conversion to 6 lane

The trip upto vijayawada after filling the tank was the most frustrating as i lost more than an hour in stand still traffic. Even after entering into the city the traffic was heavy and lost another half-an-hour to touch the autonagar bypass route. After exiting vijayawada i was totally exhausted, not because of driving but because of not driving :(.

Then continued the travel after 2 hours of rest. Lost my cool and started driving aggressively and regained my control after two near miss incidents (lesson 1). Reached vizagh at midnight. since there was a bandh called for the next day in whole of andhra i decided to cross andhra before 06:00 hrs so didn't stop for rest and continued driving. But i could not continue driving so took rest near chilakapalem. Took a well 3 hour rest and started driving but still felt tired and i continued driving so that i could cross andhra border by 06:00 hrs. At last i could cross the border only around 06:30 hrs and i could not find any unrest near the border as i expected. Got relieved and took another hour rest near the border. Got up, had breakfast and started driving.

One thing that refreshed me was the fact that i continued driving without filling my tank even the needle touched empty. I almost drove 60 kms after the needle showed empty (of course i am not claiming that it will run 60 kms after the needle touches empty, as it absolutely depends on the driving style and the road conditions). The thing that my car could dry out anytime was running at the back of my mind.

Anyways reached bhubaneshwar, filled my tank full and also my stomach and mind with a cup of espresso and cappuccino. Reached paradip at 13:45 hrs thus completing my journey of 1745 kms in a total time of 41:05:16.

Two most important lessons that i learnt during this trip:

    1. Always remain calm and composed.
    2. Always listen to your eyes and not your mind while driving for a long time.
