A website can generally be hacked either because of weak admin password(s) or some unpatched vulnerability in the underlying application/OS or a combination of the two. I don't know the setup of the host but the admins should urgently take up the matters with the hosting site.
supposedly much more secure sites have been hacked with people 'securing' the sites earning individually higher salaries than the whole member base of TFI combined.
The pentagon, VISE, MasterCard....
We are not doing that badly in the grand scheme of things.

Do you know how the hacker got in? If not then he will try to hack it again....
Which version of vBulletin? Hacking is common for vBulletin forums and I hope we are having backups on remote server

Generally it happens due to some opensource software installed on the server. So avoid to install any application / software on server for just testing.
