Thanks you, Very Encouraging applause for someone who is a week old in to photography. I am afraid its not the "Skill behind the lens" but the " Stills in front of the lens" that is making you drool. </don't>

Finally after a lot of wait, got the Registration Card for the Jet. First time one of my vehicles is having a card, my previous vehicles (Zen Estilo and a bike - Fiero) all had RC books given.

    Friends,

Yesterday, I got the first year service done for the car, from Vecto motors. The experience was satisfactory. The total bill came up to 5605.

    1. Had to change the wipers that had become hard, as the car is parked outside without a shelter on top.

    2. Did not go in for wheel balancing as it would cost extra. Not sure why they should charge this in a free service. I am planning to get this done sometime this week and also go in for tire rotation.

    3. They have changed the engine oil, the filters and topped up other fluids

    Experience with the T-Jet

    1. Total Kms driven – 8888, every kilometer is has been sweeter than the previous or should I say spicier than the previous.

    2. I was pretty skeptical when I booked the car and also during the first few months of ownership, expecting problems, but I was proved wrong, the car has not had any problems except for

    a. Locks that were replaced under warranty

    3. After I bought the T-Jet I have driven quite a few sedans just to re-confirm my decision including the new city, I believe I made the right decision

    4. City Driving: The city driving is good and very comfortable, with a mileage of 10- 11 km/liter. Finding parking slots are a bit tough in Bangalore, and hence accommodating a longer car is tough. The best part is I am now forced to walk to a lot from, far off parking spaces. (Cannot find anything close to shopping places, parks etc.)

    5. Highway Driving:

    a. It is an amazing car the highways. The car come to its own on highway.

    b. If you keep can coax the Linea past 1800 rpm and keep her above that, she will provide you the best entertainment you can have (legally!) with all your clothes on .

    c. There are lot of cars that have fallen prey to the T-Jet instincts, especially the Swifts. Somehow I have felt the drivers of Swift feel they are driving a F1 car and always take on any car. I had a lot of trouble with Swifts in my old car and have been literally ragged on the highways. It’s now payback time and with T-jet it is BIG TIME. There has not been a single Swift spared on the highways.

    d. Although I have managed to get a good mileage of about 19Km/ltr on the highway, my advice or experience has been not to try for getting a mileage. To draw an analogy “It is like trying to find a plot in a porn movie. You will end up not finding the plot and also miss the kick from the porn". Use the car for it is built for. I also feel the engine is happy revving hard rather than being driven sedately.

    6. To conclude: To celebrate the completion of the first year, I ordered stickers from 99rpm. The ones that resemble the additional chrome strip that you get on the Absolute edition. I am sorry if some of the analogies seem 'non-conventional' but i thought these bring out the way it feels to drive the T-Jet. Mods please remove these , if you feel these are inappropriate for the forum.

I want to thank the forum and its participants who helped me make this decision, especially during buying. I would also request the forum members share any specific things I need to take care at this juncture. I will update on the ownership as I move forward with this superb car. Thanks for spending time to read this post.

Good to see you are enjoying T-Jet.
This is a confusion part from start. Alignment is free, and balancing should be free, with weights could have been charged extra. But Since it is not clear in booklet, normally service centers charges for balancing.
    Good to do it outside.

Does getting the Alignment done from outside have any bearing on the Warranty? As in, if the alignment is done wrongly, and it led to any mechanical problems? Will Fiat honor the warranty as they did not do the alignment?

In ideal condition, it should. However, the personnel at the dealerships are not trained to do the wheel alignment job accurately. Many folks here have been getting the alignment and balancing done outside the FASS and have not faced any issues of warranty. It can only be an issue if the dealer is hell bent on denying warranty.

I am thinking to get it done from outside. I have seen a good shop on 7th main, BTM second stage. Looks to be well equipped. I had a small problem with the steering slightly wobbling at high speeds (120), the SA after the service stated that it will be rectified if the alignment is done right.

Wobbling would be due to wheel balancing gone awry. Get both Balancing and alignment done from any reputed shops. I have been going to Madhus on Langford Road who is doing a job until now but the service little costlier so is the quality.

Yesterday, I went to get the tires balanced and aligned. Following is the understanding I was given before job was started.

    1. All wheels will need to be balanced, after 5000 km, because of the wear on the tires. I asked them to check for balancing before attempting to put additional weights and the machine showed that the tires were indeed not balanced. More the wear, the more weight that needs to be put on to the tires.

    a. All the weights had to be removed and new ones put in to ensure the tires were balanced.

    2. I asked for tire rotation, we could do it on the right side, but the left rear tire had more wear on them (it asked for more weight as well during balancing), I was advised not to swap the tires. Please advise if this the right thing to be done.

    3. The expert at the shop advised that anything related to the Camber and Caster will not be altered and should not be altered on the Linea. This can be only done on high end cars like the Audi, Merc etc. Novice that I am had to just nod my head.

    4. I ensured that the Toe readings are perfectly balanced. Again I was advised that the Toe readings that matter are for the front two wheels alone, and the rear ones can be ignored. Please advise if this the right thing to do.

Below are the final readings for after the alignment. Let me know if these are OK. The shop was using a John bean alignment machine with sensors, which had some standards for most cars we see on Indian roads.

    Front:

    Caster: Left: 20 12’ Right: 20 12’

    Camber: Left: - 00 48’ Right: – 00 48’

    Toe: Left: 0000’ Right 0000’ Total 0000’

    Rear

    Camber: Left: -0030’ Right: -0018’

    Toe: Left: 0030’ Right: 0018 , Total : 0048’

Place: Cherry Agencies Pvt Ltd, 7th Main, Mico Layout Bangalore

This is ok and generally recommended by tyre shops, and can be done if wear difference is less, else putting new tyres in rear is better option - see here - http://www.teamfiat.com/threads/good-tyres-in-front-or-rear.12111/
Better to get these checked at service center, only alignment and balancing outside.
This thread should be of little help - http://www.teamfiat.com/threads/tyre-rotation-wheel-balancing-and-alignment.9224/
Is it Apollo Dealer or something? If yes, looks good shop, never visited though.
