Perhaps it tuned to deliver power at high rpm and have wider power band?
TDI is VW group's moniker for their range of diesel engines found in VW, Audi , Škoda etc. And it is very much in use today.
The same way FIAT uses the name Multijet for its diesel engines.
It's all about a name.
Separate names with a comma.
