Ha. No, i think this is just par for 'extortion racket' course. The real measure of neutrality is when there are comparo-s. Shapur Kotwal did an equally gushing review of the Avventura mjd too, only to be quickly followed-up by the Hacker/hatchet-jobber, Ms. K.

'Good cop, bad cop' routine: as i said, the media are essentially PR- and marketing-damage-threat extortion rackets these days.

    cheers

The upcoming new Jeep C-suv/new Compass, to be made in Brazil by september or so, Mexico too (for the Usa and Canada markets, perhaps for exports to europe, where it will see large demand, since the segment and the price points as well as the rumoured product-spec fits the eropean bill), China by early 2017.....and India(rhd+2litre mjd) by mid-2017 (more or less).

This suv is off the Renegade/500X/Toro etc platform/architecture-family (small us-wide 4x4). Unlike the Fortuner, Endeavour, Pajero Sport...it is a monocoque chassis and fwd/4x4 with independent rear-suspension. i.e., lighter, better riding-and-stiffer-better-handling, more fuel efficient etc. It will be a bit smaller than the Fortuner/Hilux, just as the Toro is a bit smaller too than the Hilux pickup in Brazil.

Given significant localization levels (esp powertrain), it should be priced a fair-bit cheaper than the expensive (and terribly overrated) (new) Fortuner, with better engine/powertrain, better ride+handling+braking+efficiency+emissions, have 'plush' rather than 'rough and tough off-roader' interiors....and of course topend versions will be very 4x4 etc 'TrailHawk' capable.

btw, if one considers the very useful size comparison image of the Jeep non-Wrangler/hardcore lineup: around 2018 Jeep will add (a) for usa, europe, china etc 2 luxury-spec, larger Jeep models bigger than the Grand Cherokee, likely 7-seaters, to-be built only in the usa, and: (b) a confirmed for Brazil (and India too, i think, and as autocar reported) sub-Renegade but similar-looking smaller new Punto-based JEEP for merging-markets (mainly though europe would see demand for such a vehicle imo).

I was near the Ranjangoan plant on sunday, saw 2 wranglers doing rounds of testing which are spotted many times many years back.
so still they are testing them, seems some more things need to be tested.
Other one which i have spotted was Renegade /C SUV, these were 4 test mules, size of the vehicle looks similar to M&M Scorpio
and if priced along with the Creta, Terrano, Scorpio top ends or around 13-15 Lakhs seems good product to be sold in good numbers.
obviously without FIAT badge on it.

The test vehicles are afaik NOT on-test: they're just 'mules' for the bigger c-suv. Most likely powertrain tests for the localized 2litre mjd + 9-speed fca-made zf transmission? Priced 19 lakhs onwards, but rumoured to be, version for version, cheaper by a few lakhs to the new Fortuner.

The small, sub-Renegade Jeep model is undergoing development in brazil, alongside the new Punto/Sienna it will be based-on. THAT would the model priced at or below the Creta, the Duster etc. Not before 2018, in India, obviously. If not 2019, depending on when and if they launch the new Punto etc under the Fiat brand?

Although of the 6 Renegades imported by FCA for testing, how one wishes one or 2 were in fact India-special Renegades (rather than a cheaper smaller albeit similar-looking avatar of it), just with cheaper new Punto chassis components+suspension architecture?! Exactly as renault has done with the Euro Captur (based on the Clio)---->Brazilian/russian/Indian Kaptur(based on the dacia duster platform).

Leave the Renegade, even the Panda 4*4 can put the bigger SUVs (that costs 3-4 times) to shame with its off road capabilities.

The presenter suggests that FCA should also bring the Renegade for India, and price it at 11 lakhs, to go up against the....Hyundai Creta. This, right after sampling its humunguous toughness and capability of chassis and suspension etc in Moab, utah. Ha, ha, indeed!

But in another report posted yesterday Autocar india again claim, based on sources, there will indeed be another, smaller Jeep suv other than the c-suv/new Compass to be locally put-together in India. Ah, when you ask? Who knows, but in FCA standard time (which is very indian, like the IST).....that would mean the equivalent of an eternity, i.e., 2018 at best? ;)

JEEP India though seems to be encouraging these indian auto journos to foreground the Renegade, so?
