Finally got my daughter admitted to Bethany Junior School, Koramangla.
No interview as such, the HoD just had some talk with her.

    Fee is on higher side.
Yearly fee for Montessori is around 85 K, and one time admission fee of 60K.
This doesn't include bus, uniform or books.

That's on the higher side indeed! But I have heard that Bethany school is good.

My son goes to St Peters (Jr KG) on Sarjapur road. Tution fee is 36k, including transport(3000/month). If you dont use school transport then fee is about 25k (rs.900 discounted from monthly fee). One time admission fee was 50k. Another 2000-3000 for books and uniform. No art fee, festival fee etc.

For my entire post graduation I did not pay more than 20k, hostel rent & food included.
Everything depreciated. Quality of education, value of INR and so on.
My father had bought a Mahindra Jeep in '84 for 1.5 Lakhs and sold it after 15 years for around 2 lakhs. If you look at the value, 1.5 lakhs in 1984 may be somewhat equal or perhaps less in value than 2 lakhs in 2000.
Those days, I have seen written at petrol bunks: Diesel: Rs.3.90 and Petrol: Rs.7.40. During the Iraq-Kuwait war, when there were rumours of diesel being rationed, we used to stock diesel in two 50 litres can for irrigational purpose!

Everything depreciated, even human beings are no exception!

There are certain schools that stipulate "mother should not be working"! They will not tell this openly, but wont give admission! This is to ensure that mother has the time to help the child learn at home.
Some other schools say parents have to be post graduates!

AFAIK there are no good schools around Pallikaranai/Medavakkam. Below is the list of CBSE schools I got when I enquired through friends/net for my son but haven't finalized.

San Academy (Near Lanson Toyota) - Kind of OK

St.John's Public School (Jalladianpet) - Way too pricy, giving more importance on extra curricular activities

National Public School (Embassy Residency, Perumbakkam) - Heard starting this year in Embassy Residency and it's other branches got some good feedback

Fairy Tales (Pallikaranai) - Heard very small school without any extra curricular activities, constructing big one nearby, less fees compared to other schools and education is OK.

I am planning to enquire National Public School (Perumbakkam), my boy is just 1.6 years now, not sure whether they will allow him from 2015 academic year or 2016 considering his age. Guess he needs to complete 2.6 years while joining Pre-Kg, have to check.
