    Dear Tfi,

I have a query that, can we install disk breaks in rear wheels in punto?

TJet parts can be retrofitted in Punto / Linea (hope the rear beam also to be changed)

Won't the abs and other related critical features malfunction? Personally, I don't think it is a simple bolt-on job.

ABS ECU, Handbrake cable, Mastrer Cylinder, Brake Booster, flexible pipes and abviously the caliper and its mounts, disc protection plate, disc itself and pads are the parts that are different in Linea MJD and Linea T-Jet.
So for complete peace of mind complete braking system have to be swapped to T-jet setup including front calipers and brake pads.

40k for Rear calipers, 4k for rear discs, 1k for disc protection, 5k for brake pads and 2k for pipes, 2k for handbrake cable, 30k for ECU, 7k for booster and cylinder combo.
These rates are approx and might have changed now queried about them 2 year back.

I'm not very sure about this subject.
But a complete ECU change may not be required. If there is a difference in pulse from drum to disc setup this could be managed with a frequency converter (Experts, please correct me if I'm wrong)

Even if this is possible, wouldn't you feel this to be very unsafe? Instead playing with this, one can very well remain with the drums.

Partly agreed. There is a risk but I won't call it unsafe.
What I have written is just one possibility.

OEMs are keen towards part complexity reduction and I hope there should not be different ABS ECUs for drum and disc brake. Going by this logic ABS ECU doesn't need a change when converting to rear disc brakes. Fiat's doesn't come with poor braking, but since the thread starter is interested, we are suggesting the available possibilities.

PS: rear disc conversion kits are available for VW POLO (priced around 70k) any info if it requires ECU change?
