    Dear All,
I a having this trouble wid my car. (Punto MJD)
Car was not in use for 2 weeks or so.
After two weeks when i startedthe car sometimes the warning light glows up
    Sometimes it doesn't glow.
If i restart the car it goes off . Sometimes it doesn't go off. In that case i try restarting the car for a 2nd or 3rd try and it usually doesn't glow .
The glow goes off after one or two tries of restart. I never drive theh car with that warning light glowing.

Once i start te car wihout the warning sign glowing, it stays that way. I mean the warning light doesn't glow once the car is moving.

I tried using both the keys. The problem persists.

My heart is in my mouth because it's out of warranty and i dont have any idea how much it will cost me .

    please advise gentlemen.

After starting does the car run without any problems? Is its the same warning light always? get the battery checked at any local battery shop.
also open the bonnet and check the wires for any rat bites as this also seems a possibility from the symptom

If these things do not help then take to SC soon.

Yes once the car starts the engine runs without any problem.

Will check on the rat bites and battery

    Thanks.

The warning light flashes only once and then goes off while turning th ekey -yes.
But sometimes It comes back once the engine is started. If i get the ignition OFF and restart it doesn't come ON again mostly.
Only the warning light in the pic glows after the engin eis started. The other warning light mentioned doesn't glow along with it.
What is this engine inhabitor thing.
i just wanted to know a bit before i go to service centre.

The "key stored " thing mentioned ?....is it replacing the old keys with new ones ?
Any idea how costly that would be.

Thanks a lot Ravi for your help.

Looks to me a battery issue, as my GP passed thru similar phase when it was dying up, whilst you go to FASS, ask them to check by replacing your battery with another vehicle and then do a test.. Or else you can use a multimeter and record the voltages as well. Kindly Search the thread you will find required battery voltages.

or else the solenoid on the steering column (key insert) might have some fault as well.

My guess would also be the battery since you say the car was not used for around 2 weeks. I used to get the code lock error when my battery was weak, I got this message along with the Airbag error message.

Yes, This is indeed a battery related issue.
I am also seeing this often now with my dying battery.
Its due for replacement and the cranking itself is very slow nowadays.

Average battery life is @3-5 years which is very subjective. Depends on various factors. So, battery going down in 2.5 years is very much possible.
