55w HID was on the list but seeing the reliability aspect, went for 35w ones. And believe me, there is not much difference between a 35w and 55w HID, just a marginal and its plus 55w have less life than 35w ones. The prime goal is repliabilty, hence went for 35w :) And yes bulb is D2S
  2. 55w hid has more light throw than a 35w I have used both on my swift.
And theres no issue with the life, installed it in 2009 and its as good as new.(car used mainly for night drives)

Can you tell me the brand you are using ? Iam also interested in 55w ones but reviews over net and even Retro rides dont recommend these. Anyways, Iam really untested to know the brand you are using. I might shift to 55w ones when these conk off :-D

  5. But I feel hid's are better for city usage and 4 lane roads..and 100/90 Phillips rally with relay is better on 2 lane highways, during rain etc..

I also used to believe the same but after seeing the FXR 3 throw, my thoughts changed and hence directly went for these. On delhi-chandigarh highway, during night with rain like hell, it was way better. Thou the throw from 100/90 bulb was also almost same, its the well defined path of light that is way better in these FXR, cant really comment for any other projectors like Hellas or Mini morimotos as I hav't seen them in action. and the theory or belief that projectors are not meant for highways is totally wrong and baseless. Anyone who dont believe me is welcome to have a ride in my car :-D

Anyways, next HID will surely be a 55w Philips one, but I suspect if its available in 4300K.

Dashboard was fading due to continuous rubbing from co-passenger knee. Earlier tried sticking some carbonfiber sheet but of now use, so just used spray can and sprayed black paint on it :D

been there done that a lot of times, and this happens due to passenger resting their knee on the dash.
Now i tell them to mind their knee.

I also used to tell passengers to mind knee but sometimes it does't feel good to ask passengers to mind their knees just because my car's dashboard is sooo delicate that it will fade away with mere slight rubbings :-D So painted it, solved once and for all !
