Punto - first service

All,

My Punto is now 6 months old and has done 4700 km (I did not drive it for 3 months in between as I was not here)
I'll be driving to Mangalore & Kerala this Friday - total around 750 km.

Is it better to service the vehicle before the journey (it is due anyway) or should I give for service after returning (it would be 5500 km then).
Service slot is available only on Thursday and I'm a bit worried about taking for long drive immediately after service (what if there are any issues).
I'll be giving for service at KHT motors in brookfield.

Please suggest.

Hope it is ok to go for long drive when the car is due for service...

 

As advised, and ur aware, its not good to take the vehicle on a long drive just after service.

 

I did not know about this, any reason why we should not take the car for long drive just after service?

 

First service is a general service. Just check the fluid levels and tighten few nuts and bolts. No oil changes in first service.

My first service was done around 5,500 Kms. As I have gone for a 700 odd kms trip at 4,800 Kms on odo.

So, better to give it to service after you return from trip. But, Check engine oil level, Brake fluid level, coolant level, PS oil, wind screen washer liquid levels before the trip and top up if necessary.

I completed my first service this week.

I had the following complaints before service -

- Sometimes I can hear a 'click' sound from steering while driving
- Occassional noise from dashboard/door (as if some part is loosely fitted)

I still have these problems after the service (I can live with these, but a new car should not have these issues. My old WagonR did not have these kind of issues for first 4-5 yrs)

In addition there's a new annoying noise from right front door. They have asked me to bring the car again to fix this new issue.

Are these common in other Puntos?

First lesson i learned is never say abt any small niggles to your TASS .. They may multiply it . .

And my car too was / is having the first 2 noice .. But I am happy with that .. becoz i didnt said that during my first service and hence i didnt got any new noice ..

Also unless anything major pops up never visit TASS except for regular service .
