Fiat website lists that Emotion model Punto will come with 165/80R14 tires instead of the 175 R14.
Yes...Thats true . I too checked that.
Thats a very bad cost cutting by Fiat. Anyways Doesnt matter for the people like me. I changed to Yoko A Drive 195's the very next day.
Even I was disappointed.
Did you put 195 on same steel rim?
Whats your tire size? Is it 165/80?
Better to get it upgrade as soon possible.
I think Fiat wants to give a little more push to the FE.
Of course, I would still prefer stock 175s over stock 165s.
Earlier wasn't it 175/70 R14
May be it's to up the Ground Clearance. Wouldn't GC increase by putting xxx/80 R14 instead of xxx/70 R14. If they wanted to increase GC FIAT could have provided us 175/80 R14 instead of 165/80 R14.
I would say bad move by FIAT
Yes, GC increases with 165/80 R14
But, 175/80 R14 would be too Jeep Like tyres with very thick side wall.
I believe it could be because of tyre shortage companies are facing. There is a thread on tbhp regarding severe shortage of tyres.
Also, now Fiat does not need to source 3 types of tyres: 165, 175 and 195. This is easier to manage for them I suppose.
Now, they are planning to add 205/55 R16 to the T-Jet. This would further complicate the sourcing process.
Yes the size has decreased.
Please note that the brochure on the fiat website also mentionsthe weight as follows;
Punto 1.2- 1090 kg (1140 kg earlier)
Punto 1.4- 1115kg (1145 kg earlier)
Punto 1.3- 1130kg (1190 kg earlier).
Does that mean better FE figures now? ::O
Oh so Fiat has reduced the wight also, good for FE.
i think its a smart move by Fiat. indian love great mileage and high CG. pick-up shud improve also by reduced weight.
