i have also ordered for a central lock from fiat when i bought my punto active last month and have been assured sourcing one for me asap as its stock didnt come last month. This news is new to me that it doesn't have anti theft with it !! What can be done to that ?
Should i go ahead with fixing it from Dealer or search outside ?!!

@varunrtr : Not sure what you mean by no anti theft - I got the Fiat OE CL fixed last week and if I lock the car with remote and try top open the door with key, the CL starts beeping. Once I lock the car with with remote, I have to unlock it using only remote.

The Cl gets auto locked when I apply breaks (now to think of it, I am not sure if it gets auto lock when I turn on ignition - as a practice, I usually depress clutch and break before I turn on ignition - needs to check it again) and when I turn off the car, the CL gets unlocked automatically.

I paid 8490 for the CL, and got it installed from Prerana motors, lalbagh - they did not charge any instalattion \ labor charges, which was really surprising. Frankly, I was hoping a bill of at least 1K for a labor intensive task such as CL fitting (it took 4 guys 2 hours to fix the CL on my car).

(you can see more details about the CL fitting here : http://www.teamfiat.co.in/forum/sho...(1111-km-update)&p=62634&viewfull=1#post62634 )

Anoop, can you please post some pictures of the CL remote.

I have also got OE central lock installed. It does not come with theft security, only thing it has is lock and unlock via remote and driver side door locks. It does not automatically lock itself also on driving.

only good thing about OE central lock is, earlier punto active was displaying door ajar warning for driver side only but now for all four doors.

No warning for boot and bonnet open

I was one of the first ones to get the Fiat OE central locking installed in my Punto Active for Rs.10k from Rama Motors , Okhla , Delhi .

    Functions Available : -

    a. Unlock + two beeps
    b. Lock + one beep
    c. Car Finder
    d. Door ajar Indication and cabin light glow for all Doors only .

However , Anoop u have mentioned that -

    a. Beeping , if opening of door is tried after locking .
    b. Auto-locking on first BRAKE press .
    c. Auto-opening after Iginiton is switched off .

Please reconfirm the features mentioned by u . The parts shown on the pic are same .

Was installation done by AUTOCOP guys ?
Were the extra features listed by u mentioned in the booklet given along with the CL ?

PS - After the installation of CL in my car , the cabin light didnt glow for a single door[not even for the driver side door ] .
    Got the wiring checked . + to - and - to + . Problem was solved .

Is der anyway to mute the beeper or use the horn in place of the beeper ??? Anyone ???

@Dilip_dmk: I can confirm a and C from your list - about b - I am not entirely sure if it is on first breaking or on ignition on - I usually fully depress the clutch and break when i turn on the ignition. Need to check this and I will update you tomorrow. But one thing is sure - it does auto lock.

The installation was done by the guys at Prerana motors - Lalbagh showroom. They informed me that they have trained people at lalbagh showroom only to do the installation.

Come to think of it, the booklet does not mention much - it just outlines the basic features. It certainly does not say anything about auto lock\unlock etc.

Thanks for the prompt reply .

I will just give a call to AUTOCOP guys , and tell them to send in a technician .

Hope the main module given to u is the one for PUNTO [FIAT] . Ur remote has FIAT logo embossed at the back .

Anyways der is no harm in having few extra features .
However , other users haven't yet reported for any extra features , but we are always used to hidden features .

I think those features should be availble with all FIAT OE Cl's . Since , these are the basic features . Maybe the technicians werent given enough training earlier .

    Lets see ....

@Dilip_dmk: He he - with Fiat, we are always better looking for hidden features. Well, I think the main module will be for Punto only. If it helps in any way, it have a number - FT-1150. Can you check whether your main module have same number or a different number?

Yes, my remote have Fiat embossed at the back, but there is no mention of autocop on the remote. Only the main module have Autocop XS mentioned on it.

Thanks a lot anoop and dipak. This is the kind of reply i was expecting and i saw the detailed post on your thread anoop.
What i meant by anti theft is that after locking, if we try to open the door, beep sound got to be heard. A few guys said that, this feature is not there in the FIAT central locking unit and only doors can be just opened and closed together with the unit. Now as you are confirming it, i ll stick to the OE . This was a news, that i didnt know that autocop is supplying this to fiat !

After posting my query here, i tried searching outside for CL, and in the whole city only one guy told that he has done autocop unit for fiat and he can do that for a premium cost of 5.5k as this is "Punto" !! but i was kind of reluctant to go with it as everyone else was afraid to do this thing !!Price quoted to me by the dealer is 8.5k + 1k labour !!

@dilip.. can you explain what the car finder is ?

    @Varun - Its Dilip , not Dipak !!!!!
Many have opted for aftermarket CLs , which are working without any problems . Better to stick with the Fiat one .

Do post the details after the installation of CL on ur car !

OT - Wer r u in Trivandrum ? I have homes at Shashtamanglam and Vatyoorkau [hope u r familiar with these names , as I am not knd of sure I have spelled dem rite].

U park the car in a parking lot , but not able to find it . Press the car finder button , the hazard lights [indicators] would light up . However only functional if the car is parked in a very dark place .
