    Hai, fellow members...
I'm Abhilash, a fiat enthusiast from the God's own country... And a proud owner of the Italian beauty. She is a Siena elx powered by 1.7 TDi engine equipped with abs/airbag and genuine leather seats. Entertainment is taken care by an OEM Alpine stereo with Bose woofers.
There is no other sub 10L sedans available in India that handles like Siena (linea is an exception)..I was able to touch 175 kmph with ease, and felt like I'm driving the car below 100kmph.... Yes that much confidence inspiring and planted... Up to 150 the acceleration was quick, after that it was a bit sluggish, though it was pushing the needle towards the red. At high speeds the engine sound is a feast for ears. The car never tend to under steer unless delebrately drifted. Thanks to the tank like built, heavy weight and superb suspension set up along with a precise hydraulic power steering.
I'm wondering why the 15 years old paint job in my siena is still looking great and I can bet no one can find a single inch with rust...! And all the electricals including power windows, defogger, fog lamps, wind shield washer, abs, airbag etc is still working like a charm.... Yes that's called build quality and that's is the factor missing with Japanese, Korean and Indian counter parts...
I'm abroad right now and I'm planning for a complete overhaul of my car including a paint job scheduled for this November after reaching home. It's a bit hard to source the parts, though it's available. I'm from trivandrum, Kerala.
I'm inviting your valuable responses for the same. The owners of legendary Siena's are requested to help me out to restore my beauty as new as possible.
And Feel free to ask anything related to siena TDI....
    Thank you....

It is restricted on purpose. There is a pump governor which is supposed to restrict it for legal reasons. (warning: don't play with it ;))
As @gurjinder said, that TD block is indeed one solid built engine. Wish they had a CRDI version of similar materials and metallurgy and we could have one of the best street legal racers out of the box.. :D

Congrats on owning an awesome machine !!!

You made me nostalgic man. I entered the Fiat world through Uno which I guess had the same 1.7 liter engine, perhaps in a different state of tune. What a car Uno was, and the engine was just mind blowing. Used to pull cleanly from standstill, and I had taken it to a maximum of 110. Slingshots at traffic lights was fun; all the hatches of those days like the Zen, Wagon R, Santro etc. would just disappear on the rear view mirror :)

Keep your updates coming once you start with the restoration :)

    Drive Safe.

    Cheers

Thanks bro, even though uno and siena are using the same mill, siena is blessed with a turbo charger ( icing on the cake).....

Thanks @harryaviator for your kind words. Actually I too happened to know about this by chance..
Frustrated with the Siena's pickup I went to a Bosch Pump specialist and his senior and experienced guy played a bit on it with a ring spanner and voila, it was like insane the way the car was pulling, you could really feel the 'torque' too. I had to ask him to slow it down to normal levels. I could almost feel the brakes could not handle that amount of power..
Luckily for me he said the Bosch Pump was pretty perfect in condition and did not need any service after they checked it in their workshop.

Oh really, I was not aware of this. Must have been a segment first during those days, turbo charged mid segment sedan.
BTW, what is the power output ?
