Finally bought 50" Sony LED TV. Didn't want to take chances on Micromax TV.

    It is W900B BRAVIA - http://www.sony.co.in/product/kdl-50w900b

Just got it installed last week, and initial experience is fantastic.

It wasn't online, Reliance Digital gave better offer than online sites :).
Installation was simple. I have put on stand for now, not yet decided on to put on wall mount or not.

Would you mind disclosing the price? I believe this TV will be phased out soon for 2015 models. I too am in the market for a 50 or 55 inch TV.

how big should be the room to keep a 50" TV?
we have a 50" TV in our office pantry,as the view distance is very smallthe picture looks blurred and pixelated even with normal DTH service.

As far as pixel part is concerned a lot depends on Panel quality and also the level of image processing or picture processing the internal processors are capable of. Bravias have great processing which is also necessary for DVD resolution upscaling, but that could be limited to DTH and other such services with entry level boxes to decode.

My observation with my 7 year old LCD TV - The sound is quite clear when we sit at opposite end of the hall, but not so when we sit midway (closer to the TV). Has anyone observed this? I am also searching for an upgrade. Plasma looks tempting!

I have got a plasma from Panasonic which is 3plus years. Picture is very smooth.but it generates more heat. Belive now Panasonic have discontinued plasma and you may get from Samsung.
LED will give bright pictures where as plasma will give smooth one

Well, with close to 30k saved because of Micromax, my better half thought that some amount has to be spent to conceal all the ugly looking wires and cables to restore the aesthetic of living room.
So we custom made this cabin which cost 15k ( very insane was my initial thought) but it turned out to be good and enhanced the contrast of the TV and gave more of theatre like viewing.....
By the way the TV so far is working good( bought in March 15)....

I too Got the Micromax 50 incher for 35k .. and spent on getting a Raspberry PI,( like chromecast, but much more smarter ) . a

and also did a DIY cabinet around the TV. The experiance with MMX 50 & RPi is awesome. all the smart features are available. and the panel of MMX is good.

Here is the Timelapse video of that Build. Took a weekend to build.
