hi Gaaij, So the car crossed the 135k mark today. going to get new shoes for the car on tuesday. this time the choice will be between c drives and a drives both in stock sizes. before getting to the tires, had to get some work done on the car. the elastic pads were showing signs of age, the car gave a floating feeling. the tires were bad, but this was a different type of sliding around on undulations. the showroom quoted 2800 bucks each for the pads, talked to Kava, they quoted 1200 for the pair. Got them on thursday and took the car to a mechanic who has just left the Authorised Service Center and started his own show. Also got a pair of new brake pads, just in case sort of. These were genuine fiat and cost me around 2700. got the dampers removed, checked, washed and fitted with new elastic pads and fitted back. checked the brake rotors and opened them up to get them faced. needed only about 1 mm of cutting, put in the new brake pads and got the car down from the jack. Entire job took around 2 hours or so. The right front wheel seems to be at a very negative camber. There is no play at any of the joints and the mechanic says the camber needs to be done up by playing around with the bolt. Totally not with him, talked to Vishal and he has Eibach camber adjusting bolts which we'll be using to get the camber right. Will be doing that in Ahmedabad when the car goes in for new tires. Also talked to Yashodhan Dole at Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists, Mumbai, they have a state of the art workshop to repair and refurbish any alloy wheel with almost any kind of damage. Since the car is already nearing the 150k mark, it makes sense to get them refurbished instead of going in for replacement wheels. He quoted 3500 each and i'll be in mumbai to get that done tomorrow. That completes all the jobs needed prior to the tire change except for the camber adjustment. Also in line is a typical error that has been occuring while accelerating hard in the 3rd or the 4th gear. The engine check light comes on and the car goes into a sort of limp mode. The EGR is clean so its difficult to diagnose what is going wrong. Will be going to the ASS in a while to get the error diagnosed. Hopefully it should be a small issue, but will keep the thread updated. Take care for now, drive safe and always wear a seatbelt.
