The picture (Statue of Lord Nataraja) in the previous post was shot at the Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.

Here's another one. My Daughter's friend.

More than DSLR the photos speaks about the passion of the owner of the camera. Excellent:)

  5. Ramesh,

First photo is wonderful, can't find words to express it.
Just had a query, is it possible to take similar center focused photo with point and shoot ?

You can take similar photos with Point and shoot as well.
Some areas where Point and shoot fail are
    1.) low light
2.) burst mode (these days they are catching up)
    3.) Depth of Field

For casual photos there is really not much a DSLR can offer against a point and shoot, however when you graduate to being even a hobbyist then DSLRs begin to really shine.

    Ramjn,
Are these your first set of shots?
Were these shot in auto or manual focus (Full Manual i mean) or Aperture mode or shutter speed mode?

No. The Nataraja shot was taken last Saturday. :) The Kid picture was indeed from my first set of shots.

The Nataraja shot was taken using Auto Focus in Aperture Mode (f/1.8). That was a low light shot.

Nice photographs, Ramesh. A few decades back, I had Yashica SLR. I used to take a lot of bokeh shots with that. With my present Sony Cybershot DSC-T900, I could not do that. Now, I am toying with the idea of buying Canon 600D with kit lense IS 18-55 mm, which is available for Rs 38,790 in Flipkart.:)

During my childhood days, I have heard lot about the brand Yashika. That was very popular those days.

Great idea Ravi Ji. I also recommend to go ahead with buying an SLR. :)
