I had this issue 1.5 year back. ODO started blinking and B&M stopped working completely. TASC said B&M box needs to be replaced. Got it replaced under warranty.

Cars till Mid 2010 needed to stick a butyl pad under the left side AC vent which prevented condensed water to seep into Blue N Me box which eventually killed the box.

Visit a TASS to check what's the problem with your car and do ask for the butyl pad, see the official recall and upgrade thread for more info

  3. Visited Forutne Powai today for the odo issue. The ECU scanner could not detect Blue &Me at all. The SA is saying Blue &Me needs to be changed. There is no Butyl Tape/Pad below the AC vent:A. It was never put. SA saying there were no instructions from FIAT about this. Now the big issue my car's warranty got over in Sept. so this Blue &Me according to SA will not be covered by warranty. He was not sure if the extended warranty will cover it or not. The bloody thing costs 12K (10K for the unit + 2K (taxes and labor)). Don't know what to do now :confused

How can check if my car was under this Butyl Pad recall or not?

Arishi, every car not having this pad should be covered in the recall as per my understanding. Vijay Khasa was the one who broke this news of this particular recall at TFI, otherwise, there was no word from FIAT at all.

If I am the judge, I would observe that your B&M fried because of a design flaw and hence you deserve a replacement of the unit from the company FOC.

12k is useless to spend on B&M. If you think you wont get FOC replacement, then talk to Italia Linea about getting that interface using which you can retain steering controls with after market HU. Its better to spend 12k on a new HU rather than a BUGGY B&M from Microsoft.

P.S.- Talk to FIAT rather than wasting time with TASC if warranty is over.

Hell no. I have asked at two different service centers and both said they have no news of any such retro fitting. Anyone in Delhi-NCR got this done? When and where? And where is it written that Blue & Me is not covered under extended warranty? You should fight for it to be replaced under extended warranty.
  6. Any suggestions whom should I approach in FIAT about this issue? Is it Mangesh or someone else?

This is the post from Vijay about the Butyl Pad upgrade.

Please get it done if you have not yet done it.

    Send a mail to service@fiapl.com
In the worst case scenario If fiat doesn't honor your warranty, simply show that idiot box to a PC Motherboard repair specialist, after all it is a Motherboard only

NK, I spoke to oberoi when I took my JET for service in late august.

I had got the B&M checked and the Fiber Pad was already there.

So I guess it has to be for all the models at least bfore OCTOBER 2010 as mine is Nov 2010 make.

Arishi, send mail to the link given by Vijay but don't forget to "CC" it to Mangesh and 2 more guys from the contact list.

Mine is JUNE 2010 but the TASC at Chandigarh says that mine has already got the pad above the box. I am not sure if they are true when saying this. If cars as early as June 2010 came with these "pads", what took them so long is fitting this thing pro actively in earlier cars? As far as I know, they started inserting this pad as late as August 2011.
