    Guys,

I want to buy a Nikon D7000 with the 18-105 VR kit lens.

The price difference between India and US it steep. The price is in India is around 80k while the same costs $1300-$1400 in the US.

Is anybody on the forum in the US currently and going to return to India soon ? If yes, I would like to know if you can buy and carry the camera from me.

Alternatively : If anybody knows how to get the Nikon D7000 in India for US price : I would be delighted !! :)

    Thanks,

    Amogh

    greymarket..!!
btw 18-105 doesnt make a great lens for such an excellent camera. go for 18-200mm vr.

    Is 80k at a D-SLR Zone ?

I've seen best prices at these places. Will check what the Chandigarh D-SLR Zone quotes for the body and lens and let ya know.

@ amogh:- the rates that you stated are they mumbai rates??
if yes try looking for some shops in gujrat and other states as well

Since VAT charged in most states are far lesser than mumbai VAT rates you may get some additional relief of few thousands more.

i belive that this cam can stand a far better lens than the one you are planning on.
go for 1 lens with good zoom and try getting prime lenses more :)

My cousin could have helped you but hes leaving today from US.

PS:- in case you plan to go for more lenses in future consider canon as well as their lenses are cheaper.

    @all :

thank you very much for your responses

@shadowfax : Canon is out since it has let me down once big time. I have always liked Nikon. I am not keen on the 18-105 VR. I agree with you : I need to look at prime lenses. To begin with I am looking only at wide angle lenses.

the rates that I have quoted are from Nikon India's website.

When I bought my Nikon D3100, I opted for 18-105 lens (than 18-55 lens), on Grandeur's recommendation. Looks perfectly good choice.

18-55 vr is a good choice ...excellency at vfm..!!!

wide angle prime lens too expensive . 35mm1.4f cost around 1.3 lakh.

Aren't you worried about the warranty . Correct me if am wrong but the Nikon international warranty that you get is not honored in India.Thats the reason I bought mine in India .

I am not too worried about the warranty. I am yet to come across a Nikon product that has failed inside the warranty period
