Nicely shot and edited promo 'behind the scenes' style video of the Argo in Brazil. the Interiors' design, 'quality', ergonomics and gizmo-fest seems pretty 'dramatic'!

(please use Google Translate: interesting stuff in here about the Argo's engineering and about the new Firefly engines.)

the Argo was largely developed and designed and engineered in Brazil itself, rather than Italy.

    They like it very much.

Longest wheelbase in its class (main competitors being the Chevy Onix, the Hyundai hb20, the coming-soon new VW Polo, and the Ford Fiesta: in Brazil, Argentina and mexico will differ) most roomy more or less, punto-derived chassis architecture yet 80% all-new chassis components. LatinNCAP at-least 4 stars.

FIAT brazil is claiming class-leading FE for each engine+gearbox combination, due to the Firefly engines.

7-8% more torsionally rigid as well as in terms of flex, for better ride-handling-nvh, and crash safer too.

Rides and handles as well or better than the Punto.

They declare the Firefly 4 cylinder 8v high compression, high bottom end torque, normally aspirated engine a performer all-told the equal of the t-jet, which is impressive indeed if anywhere near true given that the t-jet fire is turbocharged.

(the t-jet multiair family of FIRE engines, now being deployed say on the new Compass in India and in Europe, will be replaced in a year or two by the FIREFLY 1.3 litre turbocharged 16v version)

Probably one the first commercials of Argo, neatly done! Car looks smashing, especially from the back and rear three quarter. Interiors are fully loaded, tastefully done. And those alloys are a real work of art.

Another, less cinematic youtube-style official FIAT/fca brazil promo video, with the signature of fca (Chief Marketing Officer, a genius Frenchman, Olivier Francois who is also the global FIAT brand head): the choicest and most telling use of music. Olivier francois was formerly, pre-fca days, a music industry producer. They will hopefully make special use of (newage desi-global? rock? desi-rock? etc) music in their India campaigns for the Jeep Compass too, hopefully.

FCA has been using the 'Opening Edition' (in this case and in some usa cases, co-branded as 'MOPAR') approach for all its Jeep and FIAT launches in europe and brazil, etc, too. Fully loaded, special colours, very compelling price pointfor-what-you-get: obviously as an initial launch sub-brand momentum-building trick. It has worked very well for many recent models, in europe and brazil, in china (for Jeep, Maserati and now Alfa Romeo) etc.

THAT is yet another marketing device they should use for the new Compass.

Alongwith near-'virtual reality' configuration tablets, so that the underlying trim level and variant can be 'well' priced but the buyer can 'option' the car out (for prices!), which of course works best if buyers are willing to wait for their factory-build 'order' to come later.

    Brazilian 'Reals', not US$! :p

btw, the new Compass retails (top-end Limited 4x4, just launched) in europe for 31000+ euros. And the 500X for 20-25000 euros. Abarths can be rather creamily (and successfully) priced too, say in the Uk, Japan, Germany and Italy+France+Spain.

If it is 31000 euros,it works out to 25 plus lakhs rupees even for the base variant, wont people think of a fortuner in that case

    No sir.

Jeeps in Europe, Japan are premium-priced, positioned above the euro mass market brands like Fiat, VW, Renault, Peugeot (all else being equal, which is never the case of course.)

It is the same in china, and to a lesser degree in brazil as well. Of course, in the usa Jeep is mass but high-distinction/character.

Only in India is FCA, then, striving for this degree of non-premium pricing. All made possible by our high tariff walls, and of course the localization and supply to tata and marutiS of the new 2litre diesle engine, and the economies of scale for localization due to assured rhd exports. Hyundai's Creta diesel is fully imported, as is Toyota's , etc etc.

The Fortuner and Ford endeavour are 'emerging market special' pickup truck based suv-s, they are not even offered in the usa, in europe nor in japan, the former is not offered in China either i don't think?

Jeep will be launching a 7-seat soft-ish suv, China only (initially), also in phev form, in China in 2018. The Jeep 'k8' and 'yuntu'. But that model will be priced like the new LandRover DiscoverySport, or new Volvo xc60, probably a bit higher actually, being notably bigger and more butch/'Jeep'. That too will not be in competition with the likes of the pickup truck b-on-f Toyota fortuner or the Chevy trailblazer (in latam): much higher priced and engineered than them.
