Unfortunately I don't see that many 'Real Drivers' out there and Verna still manager 4k+ each month. Huydai really know how to gain customers.

The truth about Indian car buyers is that they get influenced by herd mentality and cosmetics. You really can't blame them. Most suffer from lack of knowledge and don't do proper research before buying. You'd be surprised to know that people who recently bought sedans (ANHC, FV, ANFF) in my office in the last ~6 months) had no idea that Fiat produces a model called TJet! Can you beat that? The numbers you see are all about marketing, a department where Fiat has always lacked. And they messed it up further by tying up with Tata.

Even today, what are the top of the mind recall about Fiat in India? Poor service, expensive spares, low FE right? And what do you hear about Hyundai? Great A.S.S and cheap to maintain, right?

My friend its quite the opposite. I owned a Hyundai Getz for 4+ years and its regular, manufacturer recomended 5k kms service was costing me 5k+! How is that cheap? It was a hatchback but I was still getting 10-11 kmpl in city driving. You call that fuel efficient? And the less we talk about handling and suspension, the better it will be.

Compare that to a much heavier Linea TJet. I still get 9-11 kmpl in the same city traffic. And service interval of 15k kms. And a car that drives on rails! But how many people will get influenced by my experience and not go for Hyundai? For them, what matters is the comfort of going with the majority. Heck I know so many people who buy cars without a test drive, and just based on advice by friends or relatives.

At the end of the day, one has to choose based on what factors are most relevant to you. Not what the media reports. But not many have the courage to be in minority and still stand confident.

i20 crdi ASTA is 7.50 ex showroom in mohali , 4% tax i.e 30000, 20,000 insurance , logistic 4000 , Nothing free not even matts . And no news of upgraded AC , i dont know how people survive indian summer in i20 AC , alto AC is far better than i20,
Yes but i20 is far superior in interior quality , blue lighting gives strain the eyes in night. Performance is also very good in comparison to any diesel hatch .
People will buy it a lot for sure , people here expertise in SHEEP WALK .
It will not hinder fiat sales as its already miserable , cant get bad than this .
Whatever i love my Punto and attachment is growing mile by mile.

Hyundai's strategy is to woo buyers by providing max features possible and to market them like crazy. I wont be surprised to see an i20 ad in the near future that reads "Best in class features" along with some stupid, over exaggerated name (igen in this case).

As dj.nish mentioned, this would be enough to ensure good monthly sales.

Moreover how come they avoid using 'i' when Honda uses i-vtec Toyota uses i-vvt. Can anyone educate me to understad the Next generation i10. Not able to understand what is the stuff that makes it next generation car. Grill, bloothoth, beige, ABS or the ultra futuristic fluidic design?

Most of the cars are still struggling to get the basics/fundamentals right. So what if their makers are reporting millions of car sales around the world. People are blind enough to differentiate a car from a christmas tree. They have been tricked & penalized for their ignorance, so be it. Who won't take the advantage?
It's not Hyundai's fault if there are intelectuals who are there to argue that It is "next generation".
Such people are bigger culprint than Maker itself.

I today covered 500 KMs with 5 people in car & all of them weiging more than 90 KG (One is 125 KG, litereally a Sumo wrestler) & lot of heavy metallic stuff loaded in boot (worth of 250 KGs). Temp. has gone up mysteriously 40 deg here since last 2-3 days so AC was 100% on.
Everyone of them is still to digest that a B segment car can achieve an average speed of a D segment car, top notch comfort/convenience & hardly half of the tank used. It glided on terrible stretches@100 km/hr where other usual stuff was crawling in 2nd-3rd gear@ 20-30 km/hr with occupants still feeling on a SEESAW. We all had our plastic cups filled with cold drinks & not a single drop spilled out of anyone. Big looping turns at very high speeds are happening, hardly anyone notices & jokes are cracked without any hinderance. They complemented myself & 90 HP that we make an interesting combination. They loved zooming past everything,no fatigue, chilling AC & addictive shoves every now & then just made them enjoy this trip. They even enjoyed sudden brakings@very high speeds, not usual & routine at all for them. All of them owns city, verna & SUVs.

So what, everyone was like, what a car..!!!

This is "the eligibility criterion" that a buyer should look for first of all. Once it's eligible, now let's label it a CAR. Let's now dig out what we call features in a CAR.

If we go by the above definition of a CAR, Much of the stuff is "only GOD knows what that it?" It's funny but a fact!

Unfortunately "the eligibility criterion" is not even in the list of features preferred. Hyundai makes complete sense to label it "next generation", the only insensible thing here is the buyers accepting it.

Air ionizer is not any thing great I use one at home , it has a dust sensor and odor sensor it makes the air to go though a HEPA filter and UV light,it might help a little bit keep the car clean and air with out bad odor.

Even with all these bells and whistles what maters is how the basic functions like engine, toughness of chassis, ride and handling are?
Lastime i tested drove i20 ride and handling was poor, i felt my Wagon R was better!!

    Correctly said dj.nish,

Where Fiat is lagging in Sales & Promotion & more or less After Sales & service. See how MJD are used by Maruti, its selling as hotcake, but check same for fiat.
Are Swift/Dzire good looking Car, or well engineered or well designed that Fiat Linea and Punto, every one tell no, but why Fiat is failing not to promote their product properly, they have blind sales team in India.
