    Hi

I Own a Fiat Petra D and the car has done 92000 km in 5 yrs, The car has not given me any trouble till now. In the past few months It has started to ask for some maintenance like power steering rack and pump need to be changed as there is a leak and the cost is Rs.24,000.

My question is should I go for a Linea MJD now just because of the fear of not getting spares or proper service ?

Should I use the car for a few more years ?

    Need advise on this please..

    Thanks,

    Raghu

Go for Linea MJD, best VFM Diesel sedan.

Regarding service and spares, do some research and find out the best dealer/service center in Delhi. Now a days service experience is similar (good and bad) as with other manufacturers. Spare will be easily available, but expect some delays sometimes.

I am only worried because I've had some bad experiences in the recent times. The car that(Petra D) I have is great in terms of value... My only fear is you know, If they are not able to give service the car then what ?

    Raghuram,
With respect to servicing, I don't think it should be a problem at all. I am sure there would be someone to service the car.
But the matter I would be worried about is the amount you need to spend to service the same.
Since the car is already 92k, and like you have mentioned, you might have to shell out a lot of money for spares.

With respect to buying a new one; Come to think of it, what price do you think you would get out of your current car.
If you can get a good price, maybe it's better to give it away and get a new Linea.

@Raghuram, you can look at it this way.
First: do you need a new car?. That depends on a few things
 How comfortable are you with your current car
 What is the current condition of your car, and
 Are you looking for a change - I suspect that you do
The next thing is the finances - how much you want to spend, i.e., your budget, and then comes the selection of a car.

Hi Raghuram, with passing time, old car will begin to give inflated service bills. I am not too sure about the availability status of Petra's spares. You have driven 92K in 5 years means your average running is 1500km. You need to decide whether buying a diesel is worthwhile for you. With that, I think you can wait for TJet launch, read the reviews, do TDs of both petrol and diesel options and then take a call.

    Thank you all,

As rightly put by Roy I think the 3 aspects are important but one thing is for sure I love my car. If I change I will be going in for the Linea MJD it is within budget...Of course after checking out the Tjet.

@Kaps: Do you think a person doing 1500 km a month should go for diesel or petrol ?

    Raghuram,

If you find a good price sell it off. Off late the prices of used Petra D's are coming down, two of my frinds owned Petra D's, one sold it for 2.15 lakhs 1 year back & the second was sold at 1.95 lakhs a month back. Both have gone for Linea.

Ragu, I remember reading somewhere that to fully utilse the investment made in diesel, one has to be doing close to 2K every month. However, having diesel gives you a plus side when you fill the tank. I had a diesel Uno before although my monthly running was 1-2K.
