    Halo FIATians

I am facing a problem now. Mine is a 1.3 ltr MJD Linea. A few months ago I was driving my car and suddenly it started to lose power, the car became sluggish, almost not moving. Recently I was driving from Bangalore to Cochin on the main highway cruising at a speed of 120-140 kms. All of a sudden momentum dropped, the car started crawling, and almost to a stand still. I didnt know what happened. I moved the car to the shoulder of the road and switched off the engine. As it was the highway shoulder, I was not supposed to park it there, I started the engine after 5 minutes, it was working...I moved the car forward it started moving and everything was back to normal. Power regained, car started to perform like before.

Back in Cochin I took the car to a service center. The tech guy there told me that its plugs need replacement. He told me that the Multijet solenoid valve need replacement too, which will cost between 10 and 15 K. He said I can still drive the car. I havent replaced the Solenoid valve yet. I want to know whether any of you guys faced the same issue .....and whether I can get this valve replaced for much cheaper price elsewhere.

Additionally I have another issue with the car. Both driver side and rear left side window winders are not working. They said those two also need replacement. One will cost 9K. That sounds very expensive. At the service center they always put high price. I dont know whether FIAT has designed their parts to fail immediately after the Warranty period. Within warranty period one by one parts are failing. Driver side window was the most used one, at tolls and mall entrances for parking tickets. I never drive my car without AC, hence all other window winders are sparingly used.

Please advise. Do I have a cheaper alternatives for these issues???

Is there an issue with winder cable or assembly cause it can be fixed by people who work on door windows kinda specialists. Just yesterday got Linea's rear window fixed. Cost about 350-400. Removing, repairing and refixing the assembly. Wrt the motors if there is an issue it should be fixable. First and foremost check the signals reaching there and also the window switches.

If your car is working normal otherwise you can always ask 2-3 different opinions and solutions from people outside Fass should you find something fishy.

Power window motor cost less than 1800/- and Solenoid valve which controls turbo boost is less than 4k. Weird to know ASS is quoting such ridiculous amount.

@pammuluvcars sorry to hear that. i also had faced the same issues regarding the sudden power loss and it have been discussed many times on this forum. i think its the egr valve solenoid that is the culprit. i started experiencing this problem when my car had done around 40k. complined at the service centre, but could not replicate the issues. the story went on for a long time till 60k. the severity incresed and the symptom free interval reduced, and finally i could replicate the issue at sc. they initially cleaned intake manifold, intercooler, then cleaned egr, then changed pr. boost sensor.... many atimes at my cost.
finally they told me to change the whole egr at a cost of 10k!!! i literally shouted... they could have done this while my car was in xtended warranty!! anyway thanks ti fiat.. they changed it as a good will gesture at no cost. its been almost a year now and my car is at 96k, no problems since then.

@pammuluvcars, please let us know the current status. Did you manage to get the issue fixed outside FASC.

Hai guys. thanks for the support. sorry for the late reply.

@asimpleson : I dont know what exactly is the issue, the guy there told me the "module" is faulty. The driver side window however winds down but refuses to come up. But after hitting the button several times it comes back.....so i believed it cud be a loose contact. The back side window is completely dead. No response from the winder. Are you in Bangalore?

@mohdshea : Yes its the EGR solenoid valve.

@ Pradeep : The current status is, the problem is still there but currently in a sleeping mode i believe. Coz after that incident, just a couple of days ago while I was driving back to blore on the highway....it suddenly popped up, but went to sleep immediately. Lost momentum all of a sudden, but it lasted only a few seconds......

I have similar issue. i went butta motors Hyderabad. they cleaned up EGR/MAP/MAF and found no errors and still no pickup. they suggested they need to open the engine head and check the values and need to replace them. which i refused. still searching for options..

i was also bit sound from engine, might be timing chain. they suggested it to change. i refused it because the initial problem is not solved.

Possibility of worn out HLA due to bad diesel. One or more valves may not be completely closed while piston is coming upwords . I mean at the time of power stroke all 4 valves of that piston should completely closed then effective combustion will be there and engine will give proper performance
