"Krrr- Krr" sound in lower RPMs

Guys, pardon me for starting my first post on a negative note, but since I want to get this sorted out I'm starting with it.
So here is the problem -

Whenever I drive my Punto in lower rpms, say around 1k-1.2k mark, I'm getting a "krr krr" sound, it's not from the engine, but I guess It should be from the rotarty shaft. Is anyone else facing this problem or faced this problem? May I know whether this can be resolved?

    Thanks.
    Cliff

    CLiff

Check if it comes at full turn of steering as this is close to starting rpm of 800 and we may be in parking taking out car by manouvering to the max.

That is the noise of HPS motor when you turn steering at extreme right or left end.

Axn, I know that sound. But this sound doesnt comes from inside the cabin, it comes from the engine area.

Is the sound more louder/frequent when the engine is cold??
    And reduces when all warm/hot??

Na andy, it is the alternator belt, which might be loose.

need some adjustment as he is facing the sound every time he drives in lower rpm's...

But yes the belt tightening would fix it... mine is not noise though but still i'd get it checked after the rains as it tends to loosen post rains. Especially the fan belt.

    Hi all,

I had/having this problem even now while driving at low speed and low-rpm you will notice it during the night or non-noisy condition. Last time when I had this problem TASC replaced spring (for clutch problem) then the problem got varnished recently it started to appear again.

But TASC not able to identify they say it's normal or they can't feel anything (it is very minor sound) it's is really difficult to explain it unless the TASC carefully analysis it !!! But most of the case it will not happen !!!

    Thanks,
    Prabu

Well, I have not taken this issue with TASS yet. Here in Chennai, these guys are really bad, they don't even do the scheduled servicing properly, leave alone faults such as this. I have been driving with this noise for more than 5k km now knowing that it will be difficult to make those nuts in TASS to understand and to rectify this noise.
