Engine emits heat, refer to the temperature gauge instead. Where did you feel engine heat?
After opening, there is hot air blowing outside & that's natural.
You still didn't take it back to TASS? Great going!!

I am taking it to TASS as our Fiat specialist there is on leave. He will return on Monday & I will be there on Monday. There is nobody else that knows anything about Fiats there really. The engine heat that I am referring to is when you touch the bonnet, it is hot. When I opened the bonnet and touched the Engine, that was hot too. But the engine temperature needle shows as normal. Anyway, will disconnect the battery today & reset the ECU. I think if the ECU adapts to the driver's style; then it definitely needs a reset as I driving it like a rally car mostly till now. As soon as I start the car, I quickly accelerate from 1st to 5th gear. I now know that one should increase the speed gradually and the gear shifts should be gentle.

Damn it, all I got was the triangles and the jack. There are no tools or maybe TASS stole it. Let me go and check now.

    Relatitivity,

I had a similar problem after my brake booster was replaced. I took the car back to Tafe and did a TD with Tenzing. He took the car in, hooked the analyzer and found that a switch in the clutch pedal was not working. Luckily they had a spare. It was replaced and the car became super smooth as usual. The cars today are very technical and there is too much use of electronics. Its like a car is a computer on wheels. This is a reason why we cant take it to the local mechanic and car companies are also conspiring to get us back to their service stations,

If not for the analyzer and diagnosis by Tenzing, anyone else would have complicated it and made a Bala out of my car :))

Good that you got your keys replaced. Tata AIG Pearl plan covers loss of keys, next time while taking insurance you can think of it.
  9. I know about TATA AIG and my last policy was from that only. But they were renewing my policy with 4.37L IDV against 5.25L of current from Bharti Axa(Not zero dep) for my Apr 10 Punto.

Will research well for next policy.

Drove with half engaged hand brake

Today I got stuck in a traffic jam when I was driving my Punto. I stopped the car and engaged hand brake. I was in a hurry and started driving as soon as I got an opportunity to move forward. I was distracted in the jam to avoid me hitting others or others hitting me - you know how much watchful one needs to be on our roads about the scooter guy sneaking in, auto guy entering from wrong side etc. After driving for 500 meters or so I felt car is little heavy and looked at the dashboard. Hand brake indicator was on :uh Immediately I disengaged the hand brake and the car felt normal.

As soon as I reached home I checked whether the hand brake holds the car. Hand brake looked ok. But you never know, there may be some damage somewhere which can cause unexpected problems later. That is what I am little worried about now. Does hand brake use a different brake system or use the same drum brakes on the rear wheels? Will driving with hand brake in half engaged state damage the break drums or break liners? Did I damage something seriously? Will it need a visit to TASS  So many questions popping up every minute I think about the mistake. Please guide.
