    Issue with Average Consumption reading

    Hi All,

I have observed that in my Punto 1.3MJD the Trip A Average Consumption reflects a figure of 5.8 1/100 and Trip B indicates 6.3 1/100. Not sure how I am to read this. The manual is not helpful either. I thought this is to be read as either 5.8 or 6.3 KMPL efficiency, but that is dangerously low. I have manually measured the FE for the last 5 times and have average around 15 to 20 KMPL depending on the mix of city and highway driving (always with ACC set to Auto and about 18 deg and medium to low fan speeds).

The instant consumption reading are as follows 1st gear 23, 2nd gear 17, 3rd gear 8-10, 4th gear 5-6, 5th gear 3-5. And always when I take the foot off the accelarator the reading is between 2-3.

Can you folks help me understand if there is something wrong?

Would you need any further information?

    Cheers,
    Guru

    Hi Gaurav..
5.8/100 means that on covering 100kms 5.8l of diesel is required which brings your FE about 17.2
You can change this setting to normal one ie kmpl type from menu button on right side of the steering.

Oh Thanks so much...I had checked this with the dealer (VST Motors) sales representative and he said the program maybe faulty and we will check it up in the first service. Your reply is so comforting.

    Thanks
    Guru

    Hi Guru,
As Gaurav mentioned it is just a thing you can do yourself using the MENU buton on right side.

Did you try this yourself OR
Did the dealer try this and thus found it not working the expected way? Sorry it was not clear to me from your reply "he said the program maybe faulty " whether the dealer tried it physically or you just had a conversation over phone or likewise.
I Would encourage you to DIY.

I would surely try this today on the way back from office. The comment from the dealer was over a phone conversation when I explained to him the readings from the vehicle. I expect he would have told me to tweak this setting or atleast have explained that it was the consumption of liters for every 100 KMs, had he know what this was. The reply was flat "the program must be faulty, we will check it during first service".

Punto - Issues faced and faults fixed

    Hi Guys

I wanted to start a list that will only list the issues faced and faults fixed by Fiat on all Puntos. That way, it would be helpful for new and old owners alike to read and provide self help. This would also help analyze issues at multiple levels.
    a) Service Center's ability to fix items and their experience
    b) If any issue in not resolved, we can provide a collective voice to Fiat.

    Format to be followed

    Car Type:
    Issue/Fault:
    When it occured:
    How it was fixed:
    Paid/Warranty:
    Other comments:

PS: Lets not make this a bashing thread. Lets keep the thread topic relevant so it helps everyone

Re: Punto - Issues faced and faults fixed

The following are issues that I have faced so far:

    Car Type: MJD E
Issue/Fault: Clutch making creaking noise while releasing
    When it occured: last month
How it was fixed: Advisor indicated that they greased the whole clutch assembly as applicable
    Paid/Warranty: Warranty
Other comments: , Reoccurred once, but after their second attempt, has not reoccurred.

Issue/Fault: Squeaking noise from the front
    When it occured: last month
How it was fixed: Took me 3 trips to the service station before I mentioned to them that it must be from the dashboard (thanks to Grandeur!) and not the seat. They readjsted the AC outlets I guess.
    Paid/Warranty: Warranty
Other comments: Went to the service station thrice to get this rectified.
