just take a thread and lay it over the outer shape, then measure the thread..
You will have the length you need..
but order a few cm's more. just in case. you can always cut the excess..

+1 to that. Mathematically circumference is distance around a curve which essentially is the length if the curve is straightened !!

How to protect your Steering leather?

I've noticed that in all the test drive cars that I drove had a very hard, shiny leather wrapped on the steering. It wasn't after market leather but OEM leather. I guess it has nothing to do with the quality of leather because even i20 had that similar hard and shiny leather.
Now, the question is that how to maintain the quality of the leather wrapped on the steering?
And why does leather become like this? I think it is because of the effect of continuous exposure to sun and rough handling. Or may be normal wear and tear and every leather wrapped steering ends up getting like this.
    :confused

I way is to have a steering wheel cover which one can use to cover the steering before leaving it in sun.
    e.g. See pic below.

Re: How to protect your Steering leather?

Previously, i owned a Indica v2 turbo DLX (top end) it came with a leather steering & leather gear knob..
And the quality was exactly similar to my Punto e+!! down to the stitching..

for the 2.5 yrs i had my turbo. all i did was kept my hands clean, kept sharp objects away (not operating the steering with anything in hand).
The leather stayed the same way. numerous times my turbo was left in the sun... and all.. didnt use any protection..

so currently i'm doing the same thing with my punto as well.. keeping my hands clean and all...

A precaution!! keep sticky objects (like sellotape and all) away from the leather... the steering wheel leather is of thin layer, if something sticks (depending on adhesive quality) the leather layer will peel off along with the sticker..
