Ramjn, Not only new swift/dezire will be cheaper by rs 25000-30000 but they will also introduce first-ever 2 chopper guns near to fog lamps & 2 rocket thrusters in place of exhausts even in base variants (akin to batman's car:dancing). These Thrusters are told to accelerate swifts/dezires beyond human visual frequency & traffic Jams will be NA for Maruti vehicles:drinks.

I can make out now how they would up already a concrete like built of their cars to invincible levels with rs. 25000 cheaper. They feel no shame in announcing that new swift is 40 Kgs lighter:thumbs down. Obviously why they should, it puts them right next to Ferrari/Mclaren for weight saving techniques.

@Maruti:I know that reason for weight saving is not Carbon fiber with Aluminum suspension but fragile plastic that is worse than average bucket for daily use. Your vehicles already scare the hell out due to the fact of "50% plastic content of your vehicles that i have seen in insurance quotations".

@average but innocent buyer: Pls stay away else Maruti will hunt at least 10000 people more/Year in accidents.

Correction needed. Ugly-level chopped sedan market:hit

Most people don't want a solid built car. all they care is FE,resale and service backup.Maruthi know how to fool the indian customers. they sell tin cans and has been doing it successfully for the past 25 years. No doubt about their service backup though, it is the best.

Vishnu, I will call that "escorting one to hell with love & care". User realizes the truth at last moment only when these tin boxes strike something. All regrets, resolutions & promises to one-self is too late by then. I can even provide a better eg.

They ask very politely like "Sir, will you care to look inside this well? It's too beautiful inside with crystal clear blue water & rainbow glowing fishes swimming in it. As soon as the stupid trusts & bends himself to take a peek inside, they kick his bottom, laugh & start counting the money. All the person finds inside before he loses his breath is dirty black sewage water every-where & millions of people already being victim of their idiocy".

It's Tip-Toe Totalitarian & not customer service. The real service starts with good-will & wishing for safety of your customers. This bla bla service is just a corporate joke & visible murder of ethics every moment a Maruti is sold. I wonder no one ever say a word against it whether it's electronic/print media, buyers, governments. I haven't seen this topic ever being featured on auto magazines & auto channels, are they doing any service? They are just another corporate.

  5. all this talk, according to me, is useless. maruti n other might be making cars which are less on the build front, but they cater to a particular demand, and it's still maruti n tata who popularised and is still popularising cars to the average and below ave buyer. now, safety isn't something that happens only from within a car - there are a host of other factors like quality of roads, attitude of drivers, traffic rules etc. Fiat makes cars which are stronger than maruti, yes, but that doesn't mean it's foolproof or impregnable. the difference is more in the degree, and not in kind. a truck that hits a maruti at 45 kmph might destroy the car completely, and may not do so to a Fiat. But the same fate to maruti can happen to a Fiat too if the truck comes at say, 100 kmph. so it's not only safety, there are so many other things here.

And, maruti/hyundai/tata-bashing is not the answer, a bit. we see more such cars in accident news coverages cuz they're simply more in number. of course the built quality could also be a reason - but A reason. Not THE reason. I've driven a maruti for 10 years now. touchwood. it's safe, and so am I. I pray I shouldnt engage in road rages. because i'm very impulsive and might at anytime, be in a race. i try to calm myself down now and again. Fiat wouldn't come to help a person who's in a rage.

Driving safe is the answer. This bragging about going at 160 or 180 isn't safe at least for indian roads, due to the condition of roads + the attitude of the drivers out there + the inability of the govt to enforce the rules strictly.

I might be wrong, and you have the right to criticize.

Recently I was in my Punto and my son was standing behind me between the two front seat. The road was empty and I was accelerating while a dog jumped in front of the car and I applied sudden break so fast and the car came to stop peacefully without skidding.Because of momentum conservation my son was in the front seat within no time and give a smile and not a cry:p. I had similar kind of situation in my alto and Getz(father's) and it gives totally unsafe and unpredictable feeling. I am not demanding the same kind of feeling when I go at 200 kmph but the capability of the car is far superior than the other(not comparing with D segment or above) in any given situation.

Now come back to the service. There are few thing where maruti have advantages. Number of service stations, parts availability, well organised service centers.
The work culture in Maruti service station is far superior than any others. That is more systematic. But troubleshooting skill of their staff is like any others. If we go with a problem, apart from parts availability they are average in fixing the problems. many times the same problems appear. I will tell one incident. Once I taken my alto for engine noise problem. The timing belt was loose and the service person took a rod and stretched the position of the shaft. Problem temporarily fixed and again appeared. During the last service they have given me a new problem, rattling from gear box. Auto locking malfunctioning of rear door were not fixed. During one of the service the seat got spoiled because of grease and oil. In many places the screws were missing. During last monsoon they made me to wait for two weeks for a part for rear window. and I had to wrap the window with plastic sheets to save it from rain. The fellow who removed the window spoiled one of the part and he couldn't even temporarily fix it back till I get the new part. Still I am one of the satisfied customers of maruti. The problems lies where one draw the line of expectation. I can find out many problems like that.

Though it was maruti and Tata which had popularised cars to average buyer but it was Fiat and Ford which had popularised the enthusiasm in average buyer. Fiat has gone one step further to give more safety to an wide spectrum of average buyer.I have never seen a in any forum where people had said "My Zen saved my life" Our Swfift saved our family " Statistics demand more such posts than Fiat but hardly one could find one.

I don't think maintaining a muruti at MARUTI SERVICE STATION is any day better than Fiat.

Please stick to the topic guys.

Maruti bashing or any XYZ brand bashing will lead to nowhere.

We must transcend above such trivial discussions.

Further OT posts will be cleaned out henceforth.

  9. I definitely agree with Gurjinder. Our intention shouldn't be to degrade any car or brand. If there's any car which is good, we must accept it. Dzire is a very popular car, and popularity has some sense in it. Now, I went in for a Punto, coz of my liking for it, there are so many things which appealed to me in Fiat. But i've taken a look at the New Dzire, and to me, it looks pretty decent, and much better than the old Dzire. the boot looks better, and not fatty as in the old one. the interiors are good and better, there is an upmarket feel now with the car. For me, I didn't want to go in for another maruti. and Ford Figo seemed too crampy for my legs. Fiat appealed to me, and pulled my heart-strings. Yet, i dont hold anything against Maruti or a Hyundai. That isn't democratic.

Why we think too much guys? Do you want Dzire to be praised as a great product from Maruti? What is the problem in critisizing a product from a manufacturer? Its not about bashing. For me, Dzire is a joke to be called as a sedan from Maruti. Just because majority of Indians are ignorant, that doesn't mean that a manufacturer can rip them off.
