Hi Fiat guru's(me just guru in my name:)),

I am looking for a car for sometime now. Though I'm open for any hatchback, I'm considering Punto or Jazz.
Somehow, I get only these 2 are proper premium cars except for few niggles in punto.

Called up Prerana motors here in BLR and asked about 1.4 E/1.4 EP.

The SP there mentioned that, there are few Euro3 puntos left and they will provide discount for the same.
    I was worried about below:

    1)
Me:- Will it be registered in BLR?
SP:- Yes, we already informed RTO about same. This can be done sir.

    2)
Me:- Sir, Is there any difference between Euro3 and Euro4?
SP:- Except for catalytic converter and few other things everything remains same sir.

    3)
Me:- Since this is 2009 model, will it be prone to failure considering 1 year un-used model?
SP:- No sir, this will be in good shape.

    4)
Me:- How about warranty? When does it start?
SP:- It starts from date of registration.

    5)
Me:- Will there be any problem while re-sale?
SP:- No. Since the smart card doesn;t mention euro 3 or 4, so not much difference here.
Me:- But, anyone could call Fiat and find out that there is a difference between date of manufacture and date of registration.

He said, there is discount applied for this model.

    Euro3 1.4 EP OTR - 6,70,000+freebies
    Euro4 1.4 E OTR - 6,75,000
    Euro4 1.4 EP OTR - 7,25,000

    Friends, what's your take here?

If budget is not a constraint, my suggestion would be to take E-IV version.

Thanks for the reply Ravi. My budget was 6L only. But saw in fiat website that 1.2E dont have ABS. So have to stick to 1.4E. Considering 6.5L as my budget what should be the choice?

Hmm, the E-III, E-Pack makes more sense. But do check the vehicle properly.

Guru, if you ask me, strict NO to the 2009 model..not that the car would be bad or something...its always good to stay away from it...when you've decided for a new vehicle, you better buy a "new" vehicle...I was put into the same situation last year where the dealer - Prerana tried to push the '09 vehicle for a dismal discount.... ensure you get the VIN # decode it properly and do the PDU checks before taking the car - be it 09'/'10 model... just my cents !!!

guru since you said you are looking at Punto or Jazz why don't you go for 90HP Punto. If you are ready to pay for Jazz you will definetely get Punto 90HP with more features in Jazz at similar pricee, moreover Punto 90HP is diesel that means better FE and driveability.

Thanks for the reply friends. I've never driven diesel and planning to stick to petrol. That's the reason why I consider 1.4 or Jazz. I'm waiting for diwali discounts to be announced today. If at all anything attractive, will buy Euro4 version. Else will wait for a month or 2 and buy E4 EP. couple of months wait is better and I get E4 EP. Checked Blue and Me yesterday and loved the features + Airbags....

Euro IV : Punto 1.4 E-Pack. Don't even look at the Euro III unless they are giving you a HEFTY (upward of 75k) discount

And trust me : the 50k price difference between the E & the E Pack is more than justifiable looking at the extra features you get.

Waiting for Diwali offers is a good idea.

I really feel sad for Bangalore folks : the road taxes you pay are INSANE !!

+1 And the traffic conditions don't really justify the price you pay. :irked
I got my MJD E for a little over 6L OTR including corporate discount and insurance NCB transferred from previous car, just a year back.
    Sorry I am going :eek:fftopic
