Source Garmin GPS 5" (Nuvi 1450) from US (Amazon or Newegg) and search in goo.gl for Garmin India maps (Navtaq / MMI / Satguide), Install in SD Card and Enjoy. :)

Here most of doing like this.

    All the best.

I would suggest to buy a good Android tablet from Market and install Sygic Navigation Appplication which is nothing but MMI Navigation.

For Android users it is free now and you can install maps for various states from India as per your requirment.

I think this is is good investment instead of investing on just navigator. You can use your tablet for other activities like surfing internet, playing games, watching videos on the move when you are not using tablet for navigation.

I am using TomTom Via 100 for last 8 months. The cost was around Rs.9000/- at that time. It is a decent one as far as navigation is concerned. I chose it due to the Free Life Time map upgrade offer.

    Check it out.

I have one. CarPad5. My opinion is good.
It fits to winshield, has more accurate maps (compared to my other Garmin device). I use it only for long drives to unknown places.
For my daily use, to know traffic conditions or some quick drive to unknown location, etc, I use Waze on my mobile (free).

I am more than happy with Ovi Maps on my Nokia 5800.. It was pretty useful for trips both within and outside Chennai.

I have been using garmin and MMI maps for over two years. I bought the device separately and added maps via SD card. The default map I have is North America.:)

Garmin and MMI is a good combination. You can enable both the maps at the same time.
    Also see http://www.teamfiat.co.in/gadgets-e...s-software-devices-mobile-navigation-etc.html

Whether mobile or PND is better, I got a free gift from GARMIN for arguing that a dedicated device is always better than a mobile nav.

Disclaimer: I do not work for GARMIN.
