Got to know from the blogs that Linea TJET will be launched a month after the Punto 90 BHP, which infact is scheduled to be launched in first week of July 2010.
Looks like the wait is almost over.

Fiat India today disclosed information on the launch of the Linea T-Jet in India to Indian Autos Blog.

The Fiat Linea T-Jet has been caught testing near Pune and earlier at the Auto Expo this year, Fiat showcased it as part of their huge pile of exhibits.

Fiat’s corporate communications team this morning said -
Fiat’s Linea T-Jet, according to our sources, has been tested thoroughly in India to suit our roads, fuel quality and traffic conditions. The vehicle will have the turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol engine that can be tuned to give either 120PS or 152PS.

We’re expecting Fiat to tune it to around 120hp as fuel economy is very much a concern for a 10 lakh rupee sedan buyer.

The T-Jet is an interesting engine. I am wondering if Fiat will keep upgrading the Linea with the same engine but tuned to deliver more hp with each upgrade. From what we understand, the engine will be launched with 110bhp but in EU it comes with 150bhp. So Fiat can launch Linea 110bhp now, 120bhp a year later or when the Vento 105bhp is launched then 135 bhp after a few months then 150bhp in the next upgrade and so on? Bloody good cost savings I say! Just upgrade the interiors and change the grille , headlamps & tail lamps (Maruti style!!) and voila you have a new Linea variant!

That is Great News..!! now i think we have an answer to the Honda City from FIAT.

Having said that, this car should shut the mouths of the critics for calling the Linea Underpowered, hope FIAT dosent mess up on the tuning front this time.

Some of the guys on the other Forum have started questioning, that will the TASC are capable of handling such a technologically advanced car for the Service & other issues :) seems to be a valid point and FIAT needs to take care of this VERY seriously IMO.

If they are able to tune the Engine for good Power & above average FE, then i think, they have a winner on their hands, come on FIAT :)

How do we know in that video if the car is the T-Jet? It could be the MJD Linea for all you know!!

The only way to spot a T-Jet Linea is the T-Jet badging and dual exhaust pipe. Isnt it? None of these could be spotted in the video.
