Fast is not everything, fast and safe is something ;), and from the specs posted by Arkin, it does say that the T-Jet hits 100kmph before the Vento TSi.

^^ Very true. I have never hit 100 on my city commute, though :)

Edit: Of late I have started to listen to something from the USB drive, during my commute. My mileage has improved dramatically :D

You gotta TD both these cars back to back mate.

Take the DSG Vento only if you desperately need an automatic transmission. Else, get the manual gearbox TJet while you can. The worldwide march of auto transmissions forced by emissions, efficiency norms will ensure that the manual gearbox will disappear in the coming years. So enjoy it. A decade or so from now all of us will be driving around in automatics!

I can't comment on Vento TSI's powertrain but it's ride quality is nowhere near the Linea's. Also, regarding costs of ownership we all know VW's are expensive to maintain. But on a similar note, the parts which are exclusive to the T-Jet are not the cheapest either. As an example, the T-Jet clutch kit is 18,000 or so rupees (99rpm). The brakes are more expensive compared to the Multijet version etc etc. Not trying to put down the Jet but just trying to put the two cars in context.

    Cheers.

True about the spares part, just saw that the T-Jet badge at the rear costs 2.2k INR.
  5. Olden days when gearbox is opened to change the clutch releaser bearing used be replaced even though it is not making any noise as it was low cost item compared to clutch.I did not change the relaser bearing when i changed the clutch in Wagon-R.

I feel this needs to change with Tjet, unless releaser bearing is making noise should not be changed, there should be reason why this part is so expensive.I read about a Tfi'en spending 18K to replace whole clutch kit, i felt could have saved Rs 8500/-

Can someone find similar data for the TSi?

I see that a particular 'Fiat Tiruppur' on FB has been lifting off our comments from this particular thread and happily posting on their page.

It is as flattering as uncomfortable. :D
