Linea Horn Switch Pad Issue - Resolved - Now Resurfaced

    Gosh, never thought so many are going through same problem. I think its time that each one of us report the problem to FIAT. Ensuring that they take neeful corrective action.

    @Vahan: Yes, we opened up the assembly and tried to clean every possible copper strip, checked there connection and made proper settings. It use to work for a brief period randomly but no consistent solution.
  2. FIAT should do recall for batches of the car which has the faulty horn switches. FIAT are you listening ?
    We spent a fortune to buy your car against whole world and poor after sale value. Please don't leave deep holes in our pockets.

    Report to Fiat and see if they can help. Or else go the old fashioned way, there should still be some very good mechanics around whose basics are strong and can "repair" instead of replacing such stuffs. We somehow always forget the who concept of repairing things when they fail, right from mobiles to cars.

    Ya have written to FIAT, till now no updates on issue, they just asked my car details and service center details.
    Interestingly no one picks up the phone number given for customer service representative in there email.
  5. 2009, is it out of extended warranty aswell.? I guess you could ask the service center to put up a word Fiat and request them to replace the faulty component under goodwill.! You can write to Fiat as-well, inform them that u had faced similar issues when the car was under warranty period too.

    Extended warranty is + 2years so its upto 2013 :)
    But thats secondary part, they have 100s of reason to refuse.
    But its more important that product should last more than warranty period. People dont throw away cars in 2yrs or time.

    I guess this is covered in extended warranty then. Extended warranty manual doesnt explicitly mention horn switch etc. But under the section "Electrical parts", it mentions "all panel switches and instruments".
    Ask the dealer to replace it under extended wrranty. If they say this cannot be done under extended warranty, then send a detailed email to FIAT quoting this thread, as Ravi suggested. Horn pad is not something that should die in two years. As some cleaning has already been done during previous services, it might be mentioned in the bill too. That would be enough to prove that this issue has been there for long.
