You've often said 'Indians' (meaning not individuals but the overall socio-cultural-poltical etc 'setup') IS sub-standard.

ergo: JEEP/fca please sell us 'sub-standard stuff, that's what we like, since we like to equate sub-standard with high-class/world-class, not knowing our 'a'-s from our 'z'-s, an attitude borne these days of our ostensibly 'nationalist' delusions/narcissistic-insecure-unknowing-imaginings, our khundak-ed-middle-class-loony-maansikta of grandeur, sexiness, 'aspirationality', 'merit', 'achievement', glory etc etc where there is little evidence of any of these, either individually or collectively!! Me and/or you included, no? na? nahin? ;-) ;-)

ergo: JEEP, just launch the Compass by middle of 2017, market and advertize in your JEEP-'world-famous' way like crazy, have enough cities covered by the new or combined/upgraded dealerships and ASS centres ready by then, and:....it's a (bit of) a HIT.

FIAT, instead, is hit-wicket or if you prefer 'retired hurt' for now, and its innings will be done just as soon as JEEP does its stuff, such as it will be allowed to be, on the tedhi-pitch and the queer-umpiring, etc etc. I predict: gone by end 2018.

    Let's see.

Also Price is the key point . The main rival currently in the market is Hundayi tucson ..So if jeep prices its compass under 30L OTR then it can boom the market .

There is a new article in the Times of India today. In the LA motors show in US, FCA plans to launch a sub-4 metre SUV (Competing with Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster)

The Jeep Compass, localized, launch has been messed-up by bad timing ('inauspiciousness' we might be tempted to say ;-)): cash/liquidity crunch and lingering associated longterm wealth losses and losses-of-'confidence', plus tax-'terrorism' blues, plus messed-up GST design, architecture, admin and rates, plus depreciating rupee, plus diesel emissions costs of regulation, plus overall economic slowdown underway already for a while in the d2 and above segments (as also in the mass market other than sales to ola/uber et al and of course 2-3 new models from the big dada-s in the Indian market.)

Good thing, then, that the business case is founded as much if not more: on exports, for the Jeep Compass, and the b-suv to follow it (Renegade-like.)

btw, the Brazil-made Compass has sold 2500+ in nov there (despite a still ongoing economic severe recession there), and now is reported in the brazilian press to have 2 months' waiting periods. Even as the Compass modules are made there in preparation for final assembly in Mexico for export back-to-the-USA in Jan 2017 onwards. And from mexico to Europe too in the second half of 2017.

And the Compass will become available for sale/delivery in China within a few weeks (it was just launched at the Guangzhou Auto Show), also locally-made there alongside the Renegade with the Fiat 500X due to be added to this platform-sharing bunch in 2018.

Sence should prevail and a petrol version should also be made available, even if it can give only 10 km per lit

Seems we won't be getting the 8" touch screen system.
I think they plan to launch it in the XUV range. I hope it has sun-moon roof :)

Kevin Flynn confirms that all 55 current Fiat dealers will, by the time of the Compass launch, shift to 'combined Fiat+jeep' format, plus of course the flagship Jeep Destination stores in the biggest cities only.

He does not say a word about any future new Fiat models, since imho there will be noneafter the Compass and the smaller 'new punto' twin Jeep b-suv (India and emerging markets special model.) i.e., by end-2018?

BAD BAD market and macroeconomy context though for the Jeep launch: very weak rupee, gst bad-design and structure blues plus the demonetization/etc induced longer term slowdown esp in profitable-margin car sales, etc.
