Got my 2nd free service done yesterday at AAdya...

Kms 14K , 7 months

Total cost : Rs 5452

I must say service experience was very good..

Car was picked up & dropped free of cost...bang on time

Was serviced in about 3 hours..and got call from SA explaining what was done (he had called before for any issues as well)

After replacing air,fuel filters etc..car seems slightly spirited in 2 nd gear...

Feels smoother as well..(may be its a mental feeling )

Car was spanking clean in & out...

Anyways Kudos to Aadya for the way they responded..

 

Heading to the land of sun & sand this weekend..

Ye..its Goa..

ALmost decided on B'lore->Hubli->Karwar route..return journey via AMboli ghats...

Below is the place..its a huge 5 bed room villa...

We are 6 ppl travelling...in 2 cars My Punto & another Swift...

Curious to know what are the charges incured, did the SA suggest Breakpad replacement?

Don't have it right now..will try scanning it..I can recall all the usual like air & fuel filter,engine oil,and 4-5 very minor things less than Rs 100 each...ac some part...about Rs 300...

I had replaced brake pad at around 12K itself..cost Rs 3.2 K....

Usually at second service for most 2012 Punto models they are replacing brake pads...

 

Here it goes..I'm back from a 4 day Goa vacation...

One word to summarize the whole trip would be "FANTABULOUS"..

Stats:
Kms: 1514
Avg mileage: 15.5 (full time AC + 5 adults + boot full + 120 to 130 speed on NH4 + 250kms of drive within Goa)

Place of stay:Le Reve Villas - Luxury Villas in Goa

Cost:10K/day for 10 ppl


Bangalore-Goa route taken:
Onward : B'lore->Chitradurga->Hubli ->Yellapur->Karwar->Panaji (Time:11 hrs with 2 hours stoppage time)
Returnanaji->Sawantawadi->Amboli->Belgaun->Chitragdurga->bangalore(Time: 13hrs with 4 hours stoppage time)
Our ride: (will talk about the duel between these two cars later)

8 adults + 3 kids..


Day 1:


We started off at 5am sharp at Gorguntepalya on Dec 8th..reached Chitradurga by 7:30 and some place for tea close to Davangere at 8 am..

Had bfast at Kamat near Ranebennur..and then Reached a deviation 45kms before Hubli which goes direct to Kalatagi..saved about 30kms but not a smooth road..we may have saved 30 mins max..
After kaltagi..smooth sailing till Karwar @1pm..

Scenic road from karwar and first view of Sea..this town is simply beautiful….had lunch and set off to Panaji at 2:15 pm..
Smooth ,but small curvy road till Panaji…heavy traffic…all the way…reached our villa by 4:40 pm..and here something astonishing happened..

There was a very steep incline just before villa..very steep and suddenly the swift car I was driving does not move in 1st gear..I put to reverse gear & it started moving forward ..but with not much power..voila…!!!

No other gears working…5 ppl on board including 3 kids…man the hand break saved us..else we would have endlessly moved backwards and fallen off a cliff..parked the car as is on the steep road..got everyone out..villa owner came running to us..there was a thick burnt smell ..gears were not slotting at all now…it was a free gear level with no slots..I suspected damage to gear box system and thought our vacation was screwed…I though a minimum of 10K expense..

The villa owner was gracious enough to call a mechanic named Baban..who came to our help in flat 5 mins..he opened the bonnet..he just took out one spanner and removed Bosch air filter..and what we saw was the link rod connecting gears to engine was hanging loosely because the washer had fallen down somewhere…what we did was simply jugaad style..found a iron string and tied the link rod back…and said car is good to go..don’t even bother ..u can go back to B’lore & replace washer..

We were jittery…so asked him for some contacts in service station (Sai service on Mapusa road)…they were closed for the day & next day was closed being Sunday..we decided to trust baban..and we were not wrong..car had no issues..we replaced washer on Monday morning ..10 min job..cost Rs 10

Best part was baban refused to take even a single paisa….but we have him Rs 100..fantastic guy…nice to see such good human beings still around..mechanic on his phone..see pic



We freshend ourselves up..and went to Saturday night Arpora market (Macky’s)..man this place was out of world…with 90% foreigners…young crowd..booze & dance all round..see pic below

One guy sang tirelessly for 3 hours endless…amazing..performace..all chartbusters…rock & hindi..& samba..etc..we danced too..and burnt lot of calories…pick of the lot was Gangnam style song which was perfectly sung…see pic below





We had a great time trying out various cocktails..had dinner and retuned back to Villa..and crashed to bed..

Watch out for Day 2…
