Since my Punto will be celebrating her 1st birthday in Aug, so time to update insurance.

I had taken insurance myself at the time of purchase from Bajaj-Alliaz. I have claimed the insurance couple of time. The service was excellent. I took it from Bajaj after talking and seeing the quote from various companies.

Question is - should one go again with same insurer or again find quotes from various companies and finalize a deal, each year?

    if ain't broke : don't fix it !!

If you have had good experience with Bajaj Allianz : why shift ?

I will also be renewing my policy next month (I have also had multiple claims) : I am staying with Bajaj.

All of you with multiple claims need to be very careful. Bajaj jacked up the renewal premium of a 1-year old Linea 1.4 E-pack very close to the premium of a new car because of this.

I have had a very bad experience with Reliance General Insurance. Would definitely recommend you all to stay away from it. Given the reviews from you all, i guess i would be moving to Bajaj-allianz in nov on my GP's birthday....

I guess FIAT-TATA now offers only BAJAJ in place of the RELIANCE which had issues after customer complaints...

How insurance company calculates the depreciation value?
Suppose, I had 5.6L as IDV value last year, how much the IDV value will be this time?

    Re: Insurance - Q&A

    Ravi, for eg :
first year insurance is 95% of the ex-showroom price
Second year it is 80% of ex-showroom price
Third year it is 70%, fourth year it is 60%.........

Experts - correct me if i am wrong.

    Re: Insurance - Q&A

riends, have a query and need your advise.

Recently i claimed insurance from Bajaj Allianz for repairing the dents on my car doors.

    Painting 2 doors+fender amounted to Rs. 12,000
    Service Tax @10 % = Rs. 2000
    Education Cess @ 2% = Rs. 24
    S&HE cess @1% = Rs. 12
    VAT @ 8.75% = Rs. 1050
    Policy excess = Rs. 500

Insurance amount received was Rs. 12,730
Paid from pocket is Rs. 1550 (ie; policy excess + VAT)

I thought i need to pay only the policy excess in this case !

Why was VAT recovered from me where as Service Tax, Education cess and other taxes were covered under insurance amount ?

Is it right that the insurance company refused to bear the VAT ?
