Really nice to see different aged pictures of Taj. Awesome collection.
Thanks, Rajen. With your Linea 1.4 T-Jet Plus, you can cover more places in less time!
Thanks a lot, Ravi, for the compliments.
Yes. That should be the plan now. Had travelled to Mysore and back as a first long trip on T Jet.
Earlier travelled to Ooty, Yercaud,Kodai (On different trips) on my Corsa though. But not travelled more than 3/4 days maximum on a single trip.
DAY 8 - 25 NOV 2010 - THURSDAY
After buffet-breakfasting at Ginger Vivek Vihar, we left at 10 am directly to Akshardham. We were prepared for the tight security arrangements. We left all our personal belongings inside our Linea's boot. We enjoyed a film show on a giant screen, robotic/animatronic sound-and-light programme, a boat-ride depicting India's cultural heritage, garden of India and visited Swaminarayan temple. Later, we bought some souvenirs and lunched at the food court, which had numerous delicious multi cuisine food items at affordable prices.
Our next port of call was Bahai House of Worship, followed by India Gate. From there, we visited my cousin's home at Dwarka, had homely dinner with them, returned to Ginger Vivek Vihar and called it a day.
Here are some photographs.
More to come.
Beautiful photogrpahs. Seeing this photos, I recollected my stay at Delhi in 1998/1999.
Waiting for more.... The return trip to Bangalore......
Awesome travelogue......Ravi ji.....hats off to u and ur linea........ of course to your family
but how come your son was mere passenger for 6000km?i think he was really a patient guy.....
i enjoyed your travelogue and the way narrated the entire trip.
500 ltr boot comes handy for this fortnight trip isn't it?
your 1979 taj mahal foto simply superb.......an antique......
it was in my mind that 1.4 petrol always sluggish as quoted by all magazine and review but all was erased when i had
ride in vahanpujari's 1.4 linea.infact only midway journey towards mumbai(from pune),i came to know it was
petrol,it was zooming like anything......now i knew, how you can manage 100-130 kmph?
Simply superb.. This is giving my 10 year old daughter enough ammo for preparing a study report on Mahatma Gandhi and another one on important heritage places of India. With your permission she would like to use some of the photos you have posted.
Ravi Ji, ur a legend. U also made me realize one thing. These pictures of akshardham, lotus temple, India gate - I dont live more than 15-20 mins from these places and rarerly vist them (did visit India Gate with my Tjet -Pictures in my thread). Made me realize, that we need to cherish what we have.
Thanks, Rajen, for the compliments.
Thank you, shashanknathani, for kind words. Sure, more on the pipeline!
Thanks a lot, linealover, for kind words. My son knew that I won't give the wheel to him unless I was damn tired, which I wasn't!
Thanks, royj. I am immensely happy that my travelogue serves some purpose! Your daughter can make use of the historical statistics contained in one of the Sabarmati Ashram photographs titled 'Mohan to Mahatma'.
Thanks, ansal11. Life is like that!
DAY 9 - 26 NOV 2010 - FRIDAY
My last visit to Delhi was in January 2008 in connection with official work. From then to now, I found a whole lot of development of infrastructure comprising expressways, flyovers, extension of Delhi Metro to new areas, wow!
We had an early breakfast at Ginger Vivek Vihar and left for Qutb Minar. Later, we visited Humayun's Tomb, followed by Teen Murti Bhavan and ending with dinner at Hotel Saravana Bhavan at CP. Then, we were back to Ginger for well-earned sound sleep.
More to come.
