Last night was quite interesting. When I actually came to know the number of times rat tried to enter into my car.

My car's garage is right below my bedroom as I stay on first floor the vibration sound is very much audible in silent winter night. Rat made 3-4 attempts and I could easily hear the vibration sound coming out of my car.

Early morning I went down and found that all the rates killer cubes placed under my car were consumed but the cubes which were placed under bonnet were as it is. Which was not the case earlier.

I'll keep myself alert for another few days by checking regularly under the bonnet and around. Hopefully Ratocop should help what I'm expecting out of it.

Sandeep hope the rat doesn't specialise in disonnecting the LEd wires ;). How much was the damage to your pocket & from where did you source it ?

Sandeep, if the Ratocop is wired only via two wires to the battery, then how does it know whether ignition is switched on or not. For that to happen, the Ratocop must be connected to the ignition switch also.

Just now spoke to the ratocop guys and apparently it is not available in Bangalore. They told me there are videos of the installation and its pretty easy to install. The guy also told that once in 6 months becaus of the heat the LEDs might give in and may need replacement. Also the main module also might need replacement in a year or so. If it needs care every 6 months, having local dealers and distributors makes sense isnt it.

Are there any similar products available in Bangalore and any feedback on that.

Rats chewing off the AC pipe from my new punto and me having to spend a couple of days with service guys( a big headache) has made me apprehensive to leave my car like that without any protection.
  5. Sandy, do they also install something for controlling Rat menace in the car trunk or boot?

I had the same thought while they were installing the device. But fortunately the installation is now 2 nights old and so far 100% no Rat attack on my car. The cost for the device is Rs 3500/- but bulk order can bring down the price a lot.

I ordered 4 set along with my friends.

Exactly and I had mentioned in my post that website says "As per instruction on website, this device will be automatically “ON”, When the ignition is switched “OFF” and the device will be “OFF” when ignition is switched “ON”. The entire installation is done by connecting only two wires to the car battery."

But that's not the case and I'm gonna make it fixed because right now they are always on. Though the power consumption is 0.3 watt in idle condition and 5 watt while active.

I understand your concern and it's pretty much serious. I know RatoCop is not available in B'lore but you may wanna try MASER ELECTRONICS (P) LTD. I hope it helps.

Not sure about if the same could be install in boot area, but you may try Maser India product (as mentioned above) for your requirement.

Found Rat droppings in the car since last two days. Till now only in the glove box. Going to try tobacco pouches today. Please suggest where i can get the glue strip.

Also, i got the AC fixed two weeks back for which Service Center guys removed the front bumper, could this have led to some opening upfront from where the mice might be entering??

Tobacco pouches really do not work.I had installed a few pouches around my engine bay after 5 days all the pouches were missing :-D You can try Ratocop it's a nice product with minimum battery consumption.

    Rat menace,again and again

:-o:-o,the indicator needle in the fuel gauge stopped working and the car was taken to T.A.S.S and it was diagnosed that it was the handiwork of rats.Though 8 people at the T.A.S.S worked for a whole day, they couldn't identify the wire and it two days and 15 manpower and 2000Rs to fix the issue.
Earlier, the combination switch was target of the rats and it took travels to 3 T.A.S.S to source one and Rs.2,800,to fix that.
Worse,I had always suspected the earlier accident which cost me 95k also to be because of rats' handiwork with brake cables:eek:
We have tried everything from Tobacco leaves strewn all over the garage and inside the car, under the bonnet and even in the glove box!,because everything present there had been chewed completely by rats.Moth balls have also been tried but rats never give up.
    My question is simple.
In the same garage was parked our earlier SWIFT and we had had 4 cars before that in our house and rats never entered any car,but why Linea??(Yeah,I can hear jokes that even rats love Linea). But jokes apart, does the car give an easy entry to rats and they start a family under the bonnet and at the footwell of the driver.Even, our neighbour's Santro is parked in the open under just a roof and he has had no problems with rats, but why only Linea???
    My dad immediately suggested a complete shutter instalation(very expensive),but I don't think that's the solution,so,what next???
Mods, excuse for the separate thread,I did search a thread on rat menace.
So,any reasoning about rat menace in our Fiat cars and any solution in sight????
